every year about this time the wife and i have our yearly talk about selling everything and moving to a tropical location.
we are getting more and more serious about this as the years go by.
we have even made a financial plan.. one of the possible destinations are the caymans because of its openess to other nationalities.

That would have been a costly mistake. Having a daughter back home would be difficult.
Even if you go on holidays somewhere and love it, it's not the same as actually living there.

watchtower 2007 3/15 is very unusual.
it is titled (when freely translated) "how coming of the christ affects you?".
in the first article there is not speaking about 1914 or invisible presence.
The Jan 1 2007 WT mentions 1914.
Page 27, para 9 in part: "As this journal has often shown, that battle began in 1914." (It's talking about the battle between Jesus & angels and Satan & demons.)
There is an * at the bottom: "For Scriptural proof that Christ's presence began in 1914, see the book What Does the Bible Really Teach? pages 215-218, published by Jehovah's Witnesses."

I live in a warm continent - Australia. Not exactly tropical where I am though. More like dry and hot. Yesterday 40 degrees Celsius plus. That's about 104 degrees F.
is it just me or are dubs becoming so much part of the world?, in the very minimal contact i have had with any jw, especially 1 year watching the young sisters approaching a d/c they seem so materialistic, they all seem to have p/c's mobile phones, latest cars, etc etc, talk about being gods people, it could not be further from the truth,
They still contribute lots of money to the world-wide work. Maybe when they are worldly they feel slightly guilty so contribute even more money.
They still produce the next generation of JWs.
just about every time i went to the kingdom hall, i used to see a few elders gather in the 2nd school and close the door and stay there maybe 10 or 15 minutes.

When elders go behind closed doors, it means trouble. They are talking about someone and it's usually NEGATIVE.
There are many disputes in elder bodies so sometimes they are plotting to get rid of one of their own. But in most cases it's about the rank and file and how they can accumulate enough information to disfellowship someone. Coz you gotta clear out the leaven.
the ass hall is about 10 miles from here, and here is 3000 miles from my last congregation, so i figured what the hay, i'll step into the twilight zone, see what it's like after a few years away from it all.
i was bored to a teary-eyed yawn within 10 minutes of sitting (next a nwt-guarded reserved seat, ahh, memories.)..
i caught the last few minutes of the wt study and then came "giving attention to the needs of the circuit".
I knew someone who lived near an Ass Hall. In those days (early 1980s) when it was hot they would have the doors open so neighbours could sometimes hear what was going on.
He used to say to me, "Why are they shouting at the already converted?" It made me think.

what would you put on the list, here is a starter.
1. arrive late in the evening to venice's st marks square (this has to be your first visit).
