just had dinner with some worldly friends and relatives and what a great time i had.

it was sobering to think that i cut them out for so long and yet they are such nice people.

we were conditioned to believe that they were bad influences and were demon possessed but actually are quite decent and church going people with real strengths and weaknesses like everyone else.

With the most hardcore dubs you can talk about...the weather...last sunday's talk...the last bookstudy...the last service meeting...service...how horrible the world is and HOW WE NEED THAT NEW ORD--NEW SYSTEM!!...etc.

I felt the same way SirNose. I do relate to what you wrote. Conversations with militant JWs does continue to be an endless rehash of the "us vs. them" script.

It basically boils down to the same old cliche, platitude laden pap:

Jehovah's Witnesses: Good / Godly / Deserve the Paradise

"Worldly" People: Bad / Satanic / Deserve to die

this video hows how with the use of a "bump key" a person can open a lock in seconds.

you can get a few keys that are the same types as most locks on household doors, alter them slightly, and use them to open doors while leaving no trace of damage.

or, you can just buy a set of them online.

I for one, would rather know how much trust I can place in a lock rather than ignore this kind of info and pretend it could never happen.

I know, I was just teasing you. I'm glad that I'm aware of this now.

A question for all those who were a witness in NY........................

for someone who lived in the uk, brooklan was like rome is to a catholic.

we all had strange ideas to what it was like.. so how was it for you who live in ny.

did it "feel" more spiritual, cos the hq where there or did you take it for granted?.

I attended a congregation in one of the NYC boroughs for a while. Field service was tough, as all we worked were large run-down appartment buildings where nobody opened the door (who could blame them). The congregation was pretty much an average congregation. It certainly wasn't any more "spiritual" than any of the others I attended. But there were several very nice people.

One thing that I observed was that many Witnesses seem to be somewhat "hardened" by living in the NYC atmosphere. I wouldn't say that they were mean, but many of them were gruff, and hard to please. Perhaps it wasn't their fault, just a result of growing up and living in that kind of atmosphere.

Did you have the perfect JW family?

just wondering... how many of us had the perfect jw family?.

by that i mean, never in trouble with the elders, no loss of restrictions, no disphellowshippings, disassociatings, fadings, reproof - public or private.. of course most of us fit one of these categories.

what about any other families in your congregations?

No. We weren't really "dysfunctional" but, we certainly weren't an example of "theocratic advancement" either.

Although, I do remember one family we knew that could have been considered the proverbial "perfect JW family". I say that not only because of their conduct, but because they were all very humble. None of them seemed sanctimonious in any way. They were just really good, wholesome people.
