Martial Arts - what is the present stance of the WTS

i have read before that the wts is against the martial arts....i do not have a wts cd, so was wondering if there is any wts literature to support this?.

Looked at the official site, search on 'martial' came up with one article, but for martial law, no hits for search on 'karate'.

The reasoning on thier teachings amazes me, how birthdays should not be celebrated due to the 'origin' of the celebration being with the wealthy and the supposed mention of birthdays in the bible are only associated with bad things (but don't read the first chapters of Job - Job should only be associated with the suffering of the witnesses) but then wedding rings, honeymoons, now even pinatas (where I have read an article that they are now ok because no one associates them with the origin), and wind chimes are now acceptable in spite of thier origins.

I can understand how some folks can associate the martial arts with fighting and in that case maybe even discourage it....but based on the origin...what a bunch of......

The Book Of Revelation - Book Study

i understand that the revelation "climax" book is being studied again.. if you are a jehovah's witness out here in the internet wilderness there is a unique opportunity to.

measure what you are learning in the "climax" book against truths that exist outside of the organization.. i invite you to take some time to do that.

there are three short video's which examine the entire book using.

This could be why the sister gave my wife a copy of the book....wow, this will take a lot of time to cover in the new format of book studies being combined with two other meetings....but it makes sense with the focus on the GT being soooooo close.

Book and magazine distribution, how does it work??

having never been a jw, was wondering how this works.

do the magazines and books get shipped via commercial carries (usps, ups, fedex) to the individual kh?

what sort of stock does a kh keep at hand for the pubs, do they keep a supply of books like ypa, revelation, daniel and the other more current documents?.

OK, bttt, on average, what does a publisher donate for each of the WTs or Awakes that he/she picks up, also, do individual publishers keep mini theocratic libraries so they are ready to dispense the publications quickly???

To a Witness, JW doctrines are like the law of gravity

do you ever get together and bring up the subject of whether or not the law of gravity is true or not?.

neither do i.. and that's how most witnesses view their doctrines.

there is no discussion to be had, there's nothing to talk about.

Always back to the Trinitarian doctrine....I am sure you have seen the posts on this Reniaa, don't you feel that the Trinity Book developed by the society is deceptive in the use of quotes (using partial quotes to change the original meaning), not siting references etc......sorry to get off topic, but any discussion I have with a JW if I don't keep he or she on the topic I started goes back to the Trinity.....

Things I learned at the 2009 DC !!!

unfortunately i had the "flu" friday and saturday.

but i made it to the sunday session to make an apperance.. on sunday, i learned that we are,... ready, this is a new one for me :"...on the doorstep of the great tribulation..." so close brothers!

Wife is making the teenage stepson start a bible study today....PLEASE HELP!!!

he brought it upon himself due to many issues, but she (well i truly am guessing the dubette she is studying with) has decided that the best way for him to start to behave is to get closer to jehovah.

he has already told me that it will most likely cause him to just get worse because he doesn't 'believe in all that crap'.

i am not going to be able to study with him, i know she and the dubs would not allow that, don't think i am labeled apostate, but am sure i am not far from it.

Point well taken Reniaa, I may not agree with where she is going with this, but I also instruct him to be respectful and listen. Yes the waters are dangerous, but I feel she is pulling him towards dangerous waters as well.....and I do have a duty, and a right as the head of household....I think I remember a QFR which discusses this.....
