More hypocrisy......Venus Williams and her support for UNESCO - from Sports Illustrated
by insearchoftruth inwhat most fans don't know is that behind the scenes, the world's third-ranked player is just as powerful as she is on the court.
[venus] williams has successfully pushed for equal prize money for women, helped formulate a better-calibrated tour schedule and was a key figure in a joint program between the wta and unesco -- the cultural arm of the united nations -- that promotes gender equality and leadership opportunities for women.
the idea for the unesco program emerged from her experience at an espy awards ceremony in which two afghan women were honored for starting a soccer program in their war-torn homeland.

What most fans don't know is that behind the scenes, the world's third-ranked player is just as powerful as she is on the court. The UNESCO-WTA program uses tennis as a vehicle to educate women around the world, making the sport a steppingstone to a better and fuller life. Williams understands how that can happen. Tennis has made her a very rich woman and has been the main focus of her life but hasn't been her entire life. Nor will it ever be, even though she has been criticized by fellow players for having pursuits that could have cut into her court time. "I think that having other interests helps you realize that no matter what you do, you start on the bottom. You work your way up," said Williams. "You get to the top and think, 'Let's just stay here as long as I can.' It helps you realize and appreciate what you do have, besides being a well-rounded person when tennis is over and not being afraid of what might be, what your life might be."

One advantage of the global economy and the internet is that if anything happens over in Europe, the news will be here in no time at all. I just wish we could awaken the administration of this country of the dangers.....is there any sort of an example of a letter one could write to their representatives that could make them aware of some of the dangers we all have seen and are aware of???

Thanks for posting purps, the comments are pretty good, there is a nurse who has some good posts and also bluewaters has some very interesting information, including the following:
Hemodilution is Wrong!!
Operating with Stored Blood
Men of science are constantly developing new methods for performing surgical operations. The Journal of the American Medical Association, dated November 15, 1971, described a procedure for open-heart surgery that employs sever hemodilution. Early in the operation a large quantity of blood is drawn off into a plastic blood bag. Though the bag is left connected to the patient by a tube, the removed and stored blood is no longer circulating in the patient's system. It is replaced with a plasma volume expander, which dilutes the blood remaining in the veins and which gradually dissipates during the operative procedure. Near the conclusion of the operation the blood storage bag is elevated, and the stored blood is reinfused into the patient..... These techniques are noteworthy to Christians, since they run counter to God's Word. The Bible shows that blood is not to be taken out of a body, stored and then later reused.

Hemodilution now mentioned favorably!
It is with this in mind, and not just to honor the requests of Jehovah's Witnesses, that Denton Cooley [of Houston, Texas] has performed open-heart operations now for over seven years, limiting transfusions wherever possible by substituting hemodilution, diluting the patient's blood with a glucose and heparin solution. If this method has given excellent results since then ... one wonders why it has not been extended to present-day surgery.
- Awake 83 3/22/83 p.16
HEMODILUTION IS OK!!!!
But what if the doctor says that, during surgery or in the course of other treatment, your blood would be channeled through equipment outside your body, and then, right back in? Would you consent? Some have felt that, with a clear conscience, they could permit this, provided that the equipment was primed with a nonblood fluid. They have viewed the external equipment as an extension of their circulatory system. Of course, situations vary, and it is you that must decide.

FLIP FLOP, FLIP FLOP, FLIP FLOP, FLIP FLOP.....
How many JWs needlessly died before 1983 due to not being able to use hemodilution machines? Now, the New York hospital can use them in their "bloodless" heart surgery and tout that they save JWs. The Inconvenient Truth -

Blood Fractions - did this allowance start in 1990??
by insearchoftruth inwas getting myself prepared for my wife coming home from the book study this week when blood is going to be discussed.
i have a copy of reasoning from the scriptures and i noticed that it does not mention fractions at all, but it was published in 1985, updated in 1989. was thinking if my wife were to get in a discussion on blood where we could now pull out the reasoning book, possibly even the insight book to see what jehovah says about it, that could at least be a discussion starter on changes in doctrine......even though i know i will get one of two responses...new light, or i am still learning, i am sure you could ask the husband of my study sister about this and he would be very interested to talk to you about it..

The JW's are commenting about how wonderful the Org.
They are on the internet, especially a site like TMZ...I thought only watchtower.org was allowed.
These children should not be made the center of a spectacle.....but they are.

What's the Watchtower's position on new members who are divorced?
by Whymse inif a new member was married and divorced for reasons other then adultery, then they got remarried.
and later on during their second marriage they became a witness, how would the watchtower think.
about their marital status?
-
insearchoftruth
Let me see if I understand this, two folks are married, get divorced (legal) for a reason other than adultery, if one would want to become a baptized witness, and then get married, the quickest path would be to get their spouse to commit adultery, and if that is not possible, commit adultery themselves and then confess it, because without someone committing adultery, the JWs would not allow a marriage of either partner due to no scriptural divorce being granted.
