It's labor intensive as hell, but the WTS doesn't care. They're not paying wages. No overhead on their part.
And it keeps the members busy......less time to potentially spend with worldly friends or on the internet....
i am looking for confirmation on the following:.
jws are now being individually assigned to smaller territories, and they are told to consistently work that same territory over & over again.
the reason is that the watchtower wants the jws to build relationships with the people in that area.

have anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?
I am curious if anyone has gotten replies from any of the women's groups/agencies that the article was sent to.
Reposted for your information:
Here is one response from a local agency who deals with domestic violence.
Thank you for sending us the link to this section in Watchtower Magazine. Too often we hear from women that they stay in an abusive relationship because they have been advised my there faith leader or quote scripture from religious readings. I will be sure to share this article with staff, so that we can stay current on what women are being told by their faith leaders and organizations. I appreciate you taking the time to send this article.

i was thinking that in 2014 or possibly 2015 a lot of witnesses will start questioning the organisation and we might even see a mass exodus.. i know at a stage i thought 2014 wow a hundred years surely the end will be here by then.. do you think the fact that it will be a 100 years since 1914 might trigger a lot of leaving and questions?.
or possibly they will still follow blindly, especially since the overlapping generations could go till 2070 or something?.
there very well could be a mass exodus type of domino effect since many are there sometimes whole families because of one strong mate/friend/relative, and one seemingly "strong" person leaving could take a few with him and make many more question, thus the domino effect.. thoughts.. .
Seems to have already started some damage control with 'overlapping generations' and the dropping of the 1935 date for the sealing of the anointed. I feel that the organization will be remade to become more hardline, maybe smaller but with the members being fanatical......

Let's see how long we can keep this thread going.
There is value in keeping this thread going, if the comments are germane to the issue, I think this is the sort of thread that someone who comes upon this site via a google search would find eye opening.
Very interesting the change in translation for some of the editions, doesn't the WTS praise itself for preaching the SAME message to all of its followers?

Thanks to Mary's sample letter I have been able to send a copy of the article to a few domestic violence organizations in my area, chairs of the women's studies programs at two local universities, the Tribune company and a couple of students at local universities who are officers for organizations that are active against domestic violence. Still have a few other letters I plan on sending, if just one person can step away from a violent situation in a home or step away from the organization that condones this behavior my time will be well spent, am already pleased having received a response from one of the organizations who is now aware at some of the teachings of the WTS.
i stole the idea from a fb friend.
just like occupy wallstreet (and the spread to various cities), imagine people without a single voice picketing wt at brooklyn and having warming barrels loaded with burning watchtower literature.
if you did, what would your sign say?
Protests like this often draw the wrong sort of attention, in order to work it would need to be well organized, signs well thought out and hilighting the correct things, otherwise as an earlier posted had noted, there could be a sympathetic reaction.
I think that identification of things that the WTS teaches that are destructive, such as disfellowshipping, the blood policy (and the strange application of it) and the recent discussion about the article where the woman is struck by her mate and there seems to be no council on the incorrect behavior of the male would be more productive.
Nowadays the internet and social media are such powerful tools that can reach so many people, just don't want the message to be counterproductive.
i am curious how many families actually do this, and how many lie and say they do.
i would guess it is less than 50%.
i would say it is a good night for tv.. jk.
I did it. It helped get my wife and daughter OUT of the Borg.
I may need to do the same......trouble right now is she will only study the wt stuff........gag

Below are excerpts from biographies of two people who I am trying to make aware of the letter, both are listed as active with campus groups at a local university, one as a member of the board of visitors and one as a student activist.....I am most excited about getting the information in the hands of the second person below.
Ms. XXXX has been a volunteer with Fairfax County’s hotline for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault as well as Children’s Support Groups at the women’s shelter since 2005. In 2010 she was appointed to the Board for the Family and Children’s Trust Fund (FACT) of Virginia. Currently she is the Treasurer and sits on the Executive Committee for FACT. Ms. XXXX was appointed to the Board of Visitors in 2011.
......to advocate on behalf of the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act. As a Feminist Law and Policy major, she is most passionate about women’s issues, and aims to help underprivileged women and their families through policy work. She also hopes to one-day work in the non-profit sector as an advocate for women and families who are adversely affected by domestic violence and the criminal justice system.
so i argue with the boyfriend a lot about the fact that i think charitable work is every bit as important as preaching when it comes to serving god.
every church i've ever gone to has some sort of community outreach, if not several outreaches, that have little or nothing to do with preaching.
and i made the point that if these people know you're affiliated with a church, they'll think a little more kindly about christians, too, which would help in the whole witnessing arena.
The Society did join United Way in order to receive Funds and Services.
Where can I find some more information on this. Did a local congregation join or did the WTS as a whole join?
