  Good post! I am amazed how an organization that was started by a misled Presbyterian (through no fault of the Presbyterians), based on Millerites and then the SDAs could grow into the powerful and misdirected cult that they have.

  Each and every post I read about the wts makes me even further question how anyone could not see through the smokescreen that they have set up, but they have had many years of practice setting up the screen, and each person is trained to make sure the screen looks the same!

  the watchtower society plans to sell its brooklyn real estate and move to hit walkhill patterson headquarters in 2010?

  That would be an intelligent move, given the real estate bubble. The only plus I could see of this would be not seeing "WATCHTOWER" when looking east from Manhattan, that sure ruins the beautiful view!

  Will be interesting to read the responses to this thread since a lot of the basis of the wts came from the SDAs, another faith I know all but nothing about.

  Will pose a question here, any suggestions on a somewhat mainstream religion where it would be good to expose a inactive jw to a setting outside of a meeting, anything liturgical I think is out of the question!

  inspired by one of the other threas on todays board i was remindedof what the po of my 'then' cong' said just befors i left for good.. can't remember what the subject was but he ended up quite proudly announcing.....'if jehovah asked me to.....i would have no trouble killing someone, i would find it easy'!!

  stunned silence.......this man is now a circuit overseer!

  the phrase 'crazed extremist' comes to mind.. what was the most unbelievable, outrageous thing that was uttered in your earshot.

  Having only been exposed to the wt thinking for a short time, the more I read and learn the more shocked I am that people can follow this stuff blindly. I can not wait to read the Franz books. Thanks all for your information and support!!

  For a theocracy who is supposed to follow the rules as set forth by the bible, it amazes me how soft the enforcment of the rules can be when it the rule bending (I guess the proper term would be brighter light) is of benefit to the society.

  I can not help but think of the Williams sisters and their proper?? attire when on the tennis court or Prince and some of his music and think of how if a normal jdub were to pull some of these stunts, he/she would most likely not be allowed back in the kh.

  If myspace is being banned from schools all across the country, how can the wt even think about condoning it amongst the members.

  I am still learning about the wt, but the more I learn, I think the more confused I become!!

  Wonder if we could invite the girl onto this forum???

  Seems the kid is trying to make it like the wt site, only news favorable to the jdubs!

  I love my life!!!

  i just had an amazing, albeit fairly typical weekend.

  i wanted to share with you guys and most especially any who are lurking or worried that life in "the world" leads only to crack addiction, aids, satan worship, etc.. friday: i had a fabulous evening out to a very nice, funky little italian restaurant with my 10 of my friends.

  they'd gathered to celebrate my birthday early.
