i was watching the news today in alberta canada, saw a preview for the 6 o'clock news tonight mountain time channel 3, there will be a piece about a former jw, father (i believe it is lawrence) who's daughter died of leukima, and was not allowed to have blood because of her religion.
apparently the court has ruled that he can sue the watchtower for negligence, hopefully someone can tape this news piece and put in on the net, unfortunately i don't know how to do that.. go lawrence !!!!!!!!
Does this sound ok????
To Whom It May Concern:
Enclosed please find some information about possible changes in medical policy for an organization well known for refusing blood transfusions to its membership. The Associated Press article has appeared in many papers across the United States and Canada but from what I have known it has not been addressed in the local media.
This area has a few Kingdom Halls, which means that there is a population of Jehovah’s Witnesses that are affected by changes to a policy that they may not be made aware of, unless it is available through media outlets.
For your information I have also enclosed information from the Associated Jehovah’s Witnesses for Blood Reform (www.ajwrb.org) website, which is calling on the organization to make reforms to their doctrines.
In addition to the information from the Associated Jehovah’s Witnesses for Blood Reform I have also enclosed copies of a couple of brochures which outline some of the more interesting doctrine as well as changes in position associated with this faith.
The Washington Post and The Sun Times in Chicago are two of the papers who have carried the Associated Press release dealing with this change. I think it would be of interest in an area which is so spiritually energized to investigate the policy and teachings of an organization which feels that they are God’s only channel of communication yet are still responsible for endangering the lives of many of their own.
the jws just walked away from my front door, while i'm sitting here on jwd.
my wife is home, sick from work so i didn't answer the door.
the funny thing is, they left the october 1, 2004 watchtower.
Just a question, does a dub get credit for placing old literature??
during my discussion with death to the pixies i hit on something that he brushed off as irrelevant.
in trying to make it clearer for him why the question mattered to me i stumbled across the best proof for myself that this cannot be god's organization and the bible students/jws have been being lied to from the beginning.. in 1930 over 80,000 professed anointed had no clue that they were god's sole channel of communication to mankind, even though jehovah's witnesses now teach that the anointed have been that sole channel ever since pentecost of 33 c.e.. question #1: how is it possible that god's channel of communication didn't even know they were his channel of communication?.
question #2: if the true anointed brothers of christ have always been god's sole channel of communication to mankind since penetcost 33 c.e., why would jesus need to choose them in 1919; didn't he already know who god's channel was?.
There is a book online by Don Cameron called Captives of a Concept that goes into a lot of detail of other things that were being taught in 1914 - 1919 which are not in accordance with present teachings and certainly not in agreement of what THE true religion should be.
what's the name of the book used in the "free home bible study" on new recruits?
it used to be the knowledge book.
is that changed?
My wife has been very recently drawing into a bible study and the book that they are using is what does the bible really teach. It is written at about a 4th grade level, but being very highly touted in the kingdom ministry newsletters and the like.
I was provided a copy in pdf format, is there any place it can be uploaded to?

I agree AuldSoul, this to me is even more critical than the 607BCE date as something that needs to be explained. If it can be shown that in the time of 1914 through 1919 that the wts was not living up to the requirements of Matthew 24, the arguement that they are God's organization is false. The wts often talks about 'the light becoming brighter' to explain doctrine changes, but the core values of God's selected channel of communication should not be changing.
Being new in my study of the Jehovah's Witnesses, I do not have a vast collection of literature to look at, but if one takes a careful read of the Proclaimers of God's Kingdom book, which is a Watchtower publication, many more questions are raised than answered (sometimes leading one to other WT publications).
The biggest comment I have is as follows:
In 1914 the Jehovah's Witnesses (Bible Sudents at the time, I believe) were still teaching that the invisible presence had begun in 1874, not 1914, it was not until the early 1940s that the Jehovah's Witnesses began teaching the invisible presence beginning in 1914, therefore neither the original president, Russell, nor the second president, Rutherford knew it. Would one not think that God would have communicated the return of his son to such prominent men in his channel of communication? Also in the 'Faithful and discreet' passage in Luke, it is stated that Jesus would be happy if on arriving he would find them watching for his return, but in 1914 no one from the society would have been watching for his return, because he already has his invisible presence.
Other issues about the 1914 - 1919 timeframe which have been replaced with brighter light are:
Christmas and birthdays were being celebrated
The crown and cross were on the cover of the wt magazines until 1931.
One other item of note and I wish I had the watchtower scan to back this up, but I believe it was sometime in the 1980s there was an article that the JWs were in bondage to the worlds religions, especially during WWI, which they describe as the time of being selected as God's Channel of Communication (would be great if someone had this scan).

I shall send letters to the three local papers in the next couple of days, thanks so much for the ideas!
my jw sil doesn't approve of me being on this site.
she has compared it to a black person having a friend that is a member of a anti-black community.
where else can you get so many varied opinions about a religion that i grew up in, would have died for, have family members that are members of, have questions about myself and find answers to some tough questions i have?
I echo the sentiments of super_becka. My wife is a jw (mainly inactive) and I need to learn about the organization. She has no idea I post here as well. You all are wonderful and help me more than you can imagine, I thank you all and consider many of you friends that I may never meet.
