Governing body and food at the proper time
by snarf ini had a sister call on me the other day and asked if i wanted to attend the book study with her.
i asked her how the governing body knew which topics to post in the magazines and what subjects the elders need to talk about for public talks.
she never answered my question, but assured me it was covered in the chapter they were studying in the daniel book.

I rmeber when I first started studying I ask this question, and the answer then was that angels (messengers of God) give them their "food" through dreams...I thought she was cookoo, but for some reason I accepted the answer and continued with the studies.

Let's start this again for Ajsmama
by undercover ini felt bad for the newbie that came here for some advise and her thread got locked due to the immaturity of a few folks.. i know she could restart her own thread, but being new she might be reluctant to get involved with us again after that sorry display of manners before.
i hope i'm not out of line, but i'll start a new thread for her.
below is her original post.

Aske him if he needs to go back because he wants a relationship with his family ( which is understandable just having a little one...congrats!!!). Or if his desire is for religous reasons. Whatever the decison is, usually the best thing is to support him in which ever decision he makes. Try not to hound him too much in the beginning when he feels positively towards the religion, use that time to research for yourself some issues he may have discussed with you that troubled him about the religion. As soon as he gets more serious about looking into it again, I am sure he will have a moment of panic and start talking about the bothering issues, then you will be prepared and can discuss them with him. Good luck!

Congratulations on your first step towards your new life. Hopefully you can now have more support from your wife, maybe use the ditch sessions to start asking her questions on some of her beliefs and issues she is having trouble with.

Up for a Challenge? HERE IT IS........(Please consider this!)
by whyizit inon page 3277 there is a message by shunned father who is in a legal battle with the wts lawyers, over the death of his daughter.
he is incurring a lot of legal expenses and needs help.. how many of you have seen the e-mail that is going around that talks about how little $20 is, until you go to donate it?
then all of the sudden it seems like too much.

That is very admirable. It is funny how much we blow on extras throughout the day or week. Great idea.

Bible Studies that left the JWs before baptism
by greendawn inmany persons studying with the jws go ahead and get baptised, but many others do not, do you know such ppl and the reasons they gave for stopping contact with the jws?
they did of course the right thing and spared themselves a lot of potential trouble and exploitation in the future.
a person i knew gave up all contact with the dubs after a year of studying with them, because she found them to be too pharisaic they put a lot of demands on the members but don't do anything to help them, like modern day pharisees.

I left before I got baptized, studied regularly for two years and attended meetings, conventions, assemblies and even went to parties the witnessess threw and once to New York to see Bethel. I guess my eyes were opened up to alot of hypocrasy, ( I came in under a very weird circumstance) and because of what was going on, I left before anymore mindgames could be played with me.

TOP TEN SIGNS THAT YOU ARE AN UNQUESTIONING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by nicolaou in10- you vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god - jehovah.. .
9- you feel insulted and 'dehumanized' when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms, but you have no problem with the biblical claim that we were created from dirt.. .
8- you laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in multidues of demons, angels, cherubs etc.. .

#589 You will go to see Disney movies with other members of the congregation and your children that show spirituality, lying, decieving, violence, but you will not see Shindlers list because it is rated "R" and contains nudity.

I buy a "dream outfit", one that makes me look hot and sexy, but I buy it a size smaller than I wear, that is usually enough motivation for me. I was taking some pills called "RELEASE" it was invented by a doctor in Nebraska. They sell it at GNC in some Iowa locations. I love them. They suppress my appetite, give me enrgy and boost my mood. I have a hypothyroid so my metabolism is always a little slower, but when I started them last January 2005 I lost 25 lbs. in two months with no change to my physical activity and I have kept it off.
