Did you buy new clothes for the Memorial?
by MsMcDucket ini was just wondering how many people went out and bought new clothes for the memorial.
did you feel like it was a festive holiday like easter or did you just feel like it was another meeting that you had to attend?

I pretty much did everything they told me not to while I was in. I went out and got drunk, went to a strip club to see what they were like, got a tattoo, then got another one, met a guy in the Army, went to a few motorcylce rallies and got involved with JWD.

Difference in looks?
by snarf ini was going through some photo albums with my family a while back and ran across one with photos of myself when i went to new york to see bethel.
they commented on the fact that i didn't look like myself.
i compared those pics with ones prior to the jw and some pics of after the jw and they were right.

My face was expressionless with no "spark" in my eyes. I didn't even look like myself. Anyone else notice this comparing their pics of when they were in and when they were out of the truth?

Have you seen any of the JW's elders that DF'd or DA'd you and or now DF'd?
by booker-t init is funny but i love that old expression "karma is the best payback".
i happened to see one of those super arognant elders that was the judicial committee that put me on "private reproof" years ago when i was a "devout" jw and fell into unscriptual conduct.
they literally had me trembling back there in the back of the kh wondering if i was going to be disfellowshipped or put on public reproof.

In whose opinion are you an apostate? Where in the bible does it seperate adulterers from other evildoers? it doesn't. Tell your family that he needs to prove to them scriptually where your sin is greater than his....I bet he cant!

it was very interesting to read, thanks for the post. I have always wondered about scientology and their beliefs, amazing how similar the die hard wacko religions are.

Very superstitious writing on the wall
by joelbear inother people have ghosts and goblins and fairy godmothers.. jw's have demons.. demonized chairs, forks, pictures, pages from books, dolls, etc.
etc.. the most aggravating demon related thing my mother ever did was throw away my fantastic of collection of toys from around the world.
i was about 10 and joined something called the kid's explorer's club.

I had to burn all my family photo albums because my newly reinstated husband at the time was having issues. They said that sometimes people in pictures used to worship "false Gods" and the demons could be attacking him through the photos.
In my opinion it was the pornography he would sneak in and hide all over the place, or maybe the drugs he did when he was out with his friends, but what did I know since I was new to the truth and things like that were never to be discussed.

Now that you have left the org., do you celebrate holidays? If you do, does it feel wierd or is it liberating? And also, how do you explain it to your kids? I am having trouble explaining to my daughter why it is o.k. for us to celebrate now when we didn't before.

I had friends that would take their literature to kinko's to have them laminated and bound. They did all their stuff and some of their friends stuff as well.
