Wow, pathetic. It never ceases to amaze me of the level of immaturity.

interesting experience....
by hallowedbethyname inhello all.. just wanted to pass along an experience that i had about a month or so ago.
i was invited to a jw wedding of a friend of mine.. also invited was a 'marked' brother who is a very close friend of the bride.
he was recently marked after the invitations were sent out, so he came along with his 'worldly girlfriend'.. anyways, long story short, about 10 upstanding jw's decided to make a stink just before the bride and groom were to enter the reception hall to do their first dance.

Bible Students to Witnesses
by KW13 in.
thinkin about the name change.... as bible students, they were part of the crowd and learning.
as jehovah's witnesses they know and are in control.... why do you think they changed the name?

You hit the nail on the head, as students they were still learning, as witnesses they know. You can convince someone to follow you if you "know" something, but if you are only learning about something, who would follow?

Air freshener and candles, fabric softener. I just love being surrounded by fresh clean scents and wearing extra soft clothes and having nice cushiony blankets and sheets.

Not about masturbation: How do you love yourself?
by serendipity inas a jw, i knew the scripture said that "you must love your neighbor as yourself" and struggled with the concept of "loving one self.
" or really, what were appropriate ways to love yourself and to what degree.
i thought on the one hand, the wts was not a 'feel good' religion, and certainly didn't encourage self-actualization, self-esteem or anything approaching self love.

Serendipity,
Such a nice question. I love myself by treating me to simple things. A good cup of coffe on a cold rainy day, an extra couple minutes in a hot steamy bath on a bad day, doing my job to the best of my ability, acknowledging a compliment from another person.

I was really screwed up and confused, I first posted under the name Tippysock , but lost my password so now I am Snarf...lol. Anyway, there are sooo many that stand out now. I like this annonymous community , you can truly be yourself and express true feelings and only reveal yourself if you want to.

The name Jehovah and demons.
by Zico inthe society teaches that if unexplainable things are happening in your home, then shouting out the name jehovah will cause them to stop.
as you probably know, this is meant to be because these strange things are caused by demons, which may have posessed an object from your home, which was previously used in demonic activity.
but, supposedly, since they fear jehovah, shouting out this name can cause these things to stop, even if only temporarily.

I tried saying the name "Jehovah" frequently when my ex in-laws were around, and yet they never went away.

How can someone who doesn't know the language..translate a book?
by Judas I. ini see people all the time trying to interpert the scriptures for other people who don't understand it.
my question is:.
a simple word like "fire" or "burned" in the bible.

You are not crazy at all. I have also wondered the same thing. Take for example the word "record" in english. To a d.j. their first impression would be a record that is played on a record machine. To a detective they would assume to record, as in record a phone conversation. Two different words, but yet spelled the same.

Do you think that most "thin"people have hatred towards "heavy" people?
by booker-t ini know this might sound abit "paranoid" but as i mentioned on other posts before i am a "heavy" person who is losing weight.
so far i have lost 65 pounds and i am still losing through a "strict"diet and exercise.
i was at a restaurant the other day and there were 4 "thin" people sitting at a table across from a "very heavy overweight" man.

I have heard just as many rude comments about overly thin people as well as overweight people. Pretty sad, people need to stop and think sometimes. In my experience being thin doesn't last forever, having a child does some pretty weird things to your body. As you get older your metabolism slows down. There are many reasons for weight gain. I have a hypothyroid so I can go from a size 8 to a size 14 in the blink of an eye (it seems). Kudos to you on your weight loss goals. I know several "overweight" people that eat way less than "underweight" people. I wish people would judge other people on personalities and character other than outward appearance.

Your great deep secret
by greendawn intell us one of your great deep secrets that you are willing, and don't mind, to share with other people.
one of my secrets is that when i was 14 years old (and before becoming a jw) i had sex with a girl my age and also her sister who was one year older than me.
fortunately their mother didn't find out though i think she was suspecting that something fishy was going on.

When I realized I couldn't be married to my ex anymore, I opened a "secret" bank account and deposited money into it for a little over a year to help with my new life. I knew he was going to take everything away from me, so I planned my escape very carefully, even rented an apartment in a different town 2 months before I left. Glad I did that though, cause true to his threats, he took all the money (he thought) so I wouldn't make it on my own. But, by the time I moved out, I had saved over 6 thousand dollars!!! I made it and am doing great. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to escape a bad marriage.

My financial stabilty improved because I was able to work longer hours. My relationship improved with my daughter cause we had time to sit and talk about her issues and her day, instead of rushing to get ready for a meeting. That "worldly " people liked me for me, not because of some thing they could get from me.
