Multitrack audio recording in the basement

one of my hobbies is recording original music with either of the two bands i play in.

i've got a roland si24 8 track interface/control surface and use sonar on the pc, various plugins (waves native bundle dx plugins for mixing and isotope ozone for mastering) .

just finished one cd for one project with another in the mastering stage.

I'm a musician and record my own stuff too. I use Cubase SX version one ( tried the latest version but not too keen). Pro-Tools is the way to go though as mentioned above and works best on a Mac because that's what it was designed for. I haven't got a Mac but it's the daddy for recording. Myson goes to university in September in Manchester doing a degree in Music Technology and the Perfoming Arts, using the same studios that The Smiths and The Stone Roses recorded in. Lucky sod!!! I've no doubt that he'll totally convert me to Mac and Pro-Tools after he's been there a few months. Ialso use Propellerhead Reason for my beats and loops which i think is an awesome programme. Happy music makin'.

Film: Grizzly Man

what a whacked out character timothy treadwell was.. this documentary and story, told mostly through treadwell's own video, is about a man who wanted to be a friend of grizzly bears and perhaps maybe be a grizzly bear.

he took off for alaska where for long stretches of time he would "commune" with these huge killer bears and film them.

he seemed to think he had nothing to fear because he was operating at a higher level of spirituality and that the bears sensed it.

I have to agree with other posters on this thread.....what a nutter!!!!

The premise or dream is ok but....he was just plain stupid, or liked the thought of living on the edge of a violent death.

If you arse around with fate (or whatever) in this kind of way, you're gonna end up being kicked in the ass at some point.

Did the term 'dangerous WILD animal' not occur to him?!

That said, the music for the film was composed by one Richard Thompson, a fave British recording artist of mine who lives most of his time in L.A.

I've just come back from Cuba, where the mosquitos very happily sucking the blood out of me and plenty other people too.

These little sh*"heads are definitely of the 'spawn of satan' class. Either that or we're not supposed to be on this here planet because i've tried and tried to see what purpose a mozzie serves.....there ain't one. Apart from spreading death and infection and generally pissing humans off. Cuba's gorgeous though.

Are you happier out of the org?

hi everyone i was just wondering if those of you that have left the org for whatever reason, have found your'e much happier than when you were in it?probably a daft question but i tried to talk to a friend about how i was feeling about a few things and why i don't go to meetings and she said would i really be any happier out than in?it just got me thinking about why i joined in the first place, because i was lonely and down, although i still am several years later it seems!have you found life better on the outside?did you feel a sense of freedom or was it really hard to adjust?when i try to explain what i find hard in the religion they can always say something back that then makes me think i was wrong in the first place and it is the truth after all - aagh!

As above i say YES, YES, YES.

Until one can free oneself from the vicelike grip of the org' and their mind-control methods, then one may doubt that happiness was attainable.

Having it drummed into the head that leaving causes total breakdown of the decent person, is part of the reason that people don't leave. It's mind-control!!!!

I'm also much, much happier away from the bible god they worship. That god creeps me out......hugely.

Hey there Pict!

Goodbyes on the forum are maybe from people who need a bit of attention and love, it's a cry. It's not really necessary but they need someone to give them some emotional energy and float them a bit. It's natural, if a little sad and forlorn. It will be quite a while before people start to miss a 200 poster like me but hopefully my private life is sufficient enough and carries the clout that's needed for me not to really care that much....respect and all.

Has being a Jehova's witness totally shattered your faith?

just because the watchtower society is wrong doesn't mean that there is no god, nor does it mean there is a god.

it would interesting to now how former members have adjusted thier cosmology, or whether they are now atheists and why.

i personally see religion as a more personal matter, rather than belonging to an organization.

Being a JW didn't shatter my faith.....the bible and it's revolting, authoritarian, murdering bas&^rd god did that for me.

I didn't read the bible properly until out of the org, without it's 'mother knows best' attitude hanging over me.

The god of the bible (whoever he/she is) shattered my faith....makes me wanna puke!!

i visited my jw son and daughter - who were raised in the faith - in may.

my son is 37 years old, intelligent and is a hard worker and a good provider for his family.

we were having breakfast when my daughter-in-law mentioned the ' lump' on my sons back.

Herbs, and supplements are BS

Herbs are actually very dangerous.

Your comments are outrageous! I have a diploma in Nutrition and Weight Management and can tell you that whilst supplements are over-sold, they can be beneficial to us all, if only in a small way.

Herbs are NOT DANGEROUS. They are extremely beneficial if prescribed properly. Some can be dangerous if imbibed in excess but your comments leave much to be desired by way of accuracy and truth.

Maybe a bit of the JW still lives in you in your uninformed dogmatism
