ssn: Missing two from a six pack, That explains it.
Outlaw: The Pioneer Shuffle, LOL!
Heaven: Young ones leaving probably account for the most "activity in the ministry" today.
Billy the Ex: Faster in no time is correct. As in "never."
Slimboy: Thanks for the adjustment: "Jehovah is really speeding up the work, BUT all shall take place according to scripture... in its own time."

40 Years (a Generation) Past 1874, That's All it Was!
by OnTheWayOut inhere's the real simple version of the complicated doctrine of when jesus supposedly returned and the last days arrived/ended/started.
william miller said that jesus' return would be in 1844.
(see the great disappointment at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/great_disappointment ) people who believed what he said were known as "millerites.

Wendell died in August of 1873, probably confident that his 1873 to 1874 date was correct.
And Russell died in October 1916, knowing very well that his 1914 date was dead wrong!
(Methinks Russell was forced to up-date it to 1915 to account for the lack of a "year zero" in newer editions of Studies in the Scriptures.)It saddens me that I bothered to understand it at one time.
Yet posts like this, based on documented history, serve an educational purpose for those still in. Please be proud of that.~Sue

Snagged a few more pubs over the weeks... They all say "Please Take," so I do! They are duly deposited into the paper recycling bin.
But there's never any local contact info.
You would think, IF they really had love for their fellow man and wished to save them from Armageddon, or at least start a "Bible study,"
they'd write the phone number to the local Kingdom Hall on it.
What a waste of time, effort, paper. *Sigh*

Watchtower in Michael Jackson's Will???
by Confucious inwallstreet journal today is reporting about mj's will.. they are saying that it's his mother, three children and "one or more" charities.. what do you think the odds are that the wt is one of them?.
i remember for the jackson's victory tour (a very long time ago) - that they donated most of that tour money to a "unnamed" charity.. and i always suspected that the wt were the recepients.. and thoughts?.

District Convention ruminations
by sir82 inif y'all can stand one more dc thread, i thought i'd post some miscellaneous rumbling ramblings about this year's edition.. to protect my privacy, i'd prefer not to disclose the location - pm me if interested.. ***** attendance, as in all other years i can remember, was much lower on friday than the other days.
in fact, the attendance was 22% lower on friday than on sunday.
so, as usual, they hammered home the point about the importance of attending all 3 days....on friday!

Oh, I misunderstood. Thought you were saying, that they said, this pre-1914 group was never anointed at all. Gotcha' now!
Thanks for sharing, I can appreciate how rough it is to sit through all that BS, and your notes help me in dealing with family still in.

This "generation" is NOT all anointed Christians since 33 CE, but instead all anointed Christians since 1914.
WOW.
So what were all 100+ thousand faithful, now-non-anointed Christians prior to 1914?
Chopped liver?

God's Problem: How the Bible Fails to Answer Our Most Important Question—Why We Suffer
by Bart D. Ehrman
In times of questioning and despair, people often quote the Bible to provide answers. Surprisingly, though, the Bible does not have one answer but many "answers" that often contradict one another. Consider these competing explanations for suffering put forth by various biblical writers:
• The prophets: suffering is a punishment for sin
• The book of Job, which offers two different answers: suffering is a test, and you will be rewarded later for passing it; and suffering is beyond comprehension, since we are just human beings and God, after all, is God
• Ecclesiastes: suffering is the nature of things, so just accept it
• All apocalyptic texts in both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament: God will eventually make right all that is wrong with the world
For renowned Bible scholar Bart Ehrman, the question of why there is so much suffering in the world is more than a haunting thought. Ehrman's inability to reconcile the claims of faith with the facts of real life led the former pastor of the Princeton Baptist Church to reject Christianity.
In God's Problem, Ehrman discusses his personal anguish upon discovering the Bible's contradictory explanations for suffering and invites all people of faith—or no faith—to confront their deepest questions about how God engages the world and each of us. -

Theocratic Lurker spies

is this true?
i really don't have a problem with that, but to me it appears entirely sacreligious from what they preach.

The Internet is their worst nightmare, exposing their criminal behavior. They cannot afford to ignore sites such as this.
Watchtower leaders might be like the Orthodox Jews who hire a non-Jewish shabbos goy to flip their light switches and flush their toilets during the weekly Sabbath.
They would never taint themselves personally reading here, but what's to stop them paying worldly "bird food" people to do their dirty work? If their scummy lawyers are worth their salt, ex-Witness sites are being surveiled.
The Governing Body puppet dictators could rationalize it as a "safety precaution" the same way the United Nations debacle was "just a library card."
