Home Schooling - Yes or No?

what are your opinions?.

it seems that alot of jw's are into this.. i think there is a time and place for this, ie if you don't have access to a public/private school.. it doesn't seem regulated to me.

my mother home schooled my sister because she couldn't be bothered taking and picking her up from school.

No. Yet, there will be circumstances where home schooling is the right thing to do. I was home schooled after freshman year of highschool. This was so bad associations would not spoil useful habits. It was also done so I could work part time and pioneer at 15 (aux.), then at 17 I regular pioneered. I graduated a year early too. I recieved a real highschool diploma. I have never had a problem socially, but it effected me in other ways. I was extremely sensative, became a real people pleaser. The good thing was though, I had job experience at a very young age. I pretty much stayed in the business too, I have been successful because of EXPERIENCE.

I hated being homeschooled though, but my parents always taught me to work smart and hard.

Ist, I want you to have a positive attitude about it, its going to take a little work. Based on your information, I would suggest trying a boot cut fit, or a slightly relaxed fit according to your measurements. The Gap, J Crew, Old Navy (least expensive), and Banana Republic are my favorite places for me and my hubby (hes a true 32/32). Most of the jeans from these places have been washed already...You can even try Sears or a department store that sells Levi's, they come all different ways now. If you were to find jeans at The Gap, it could run you $25-60, yet they have alot of sales all the time....J Crew/Banana republic, $70-128. Nowadays, they have jeans for different body types, you just have to try them on. I hope you can look at jeans in a different way, I'll be disappointed if you don't...give it a try! Have a little fun with it...personally, I like darker jeans!

Terry, I am so sorry that you had this experience with jeans...there was a time when jeans did not have a variety of fit. But that is not true now. I will say this though, nobody can wear tapered jeans, big no no. This is just a fact.

In my other post, it is critical that jeans fit properly (maybe critical is wrong word ). They have different types of jeans for different types of body types, you have not seen this yet? So, you do not wear jeans? Where have you looked? Just curious. I love jeans so much that I will be your advisor! lol

Its nice to have a hubby that loves to shop like I do but that can be dangerous...we love jeans!!! In fact, I am obesessed with jeans. I love this thread...lol...gets me excited...about when and where can I buy my next pair?...I let you know...

What's your favorite breakfast dish?

for company, i'll fix a tender, flaky crust and bake a creamy, cheesy quiche with either, bacon, canadian bacon or ham and top it with diced tomatoes w/green chilies and sour cream.. but just by myself, i lurv to fix hot buttered toast, topped with egg over easy and tomatoes w/green chilies...yummy!.

On average, I 'll have some kind of fruit with a granola bar or yogort. But, my favorite breakfast when we go out to breakfast is a Denver Omlette, hash browns, buttered wheat toast. Its critical when I eat it that for each omlette bite, I get a scoop of hash browns with it, kind of like a skillet, but I do the mixing.

I love jeans! Its Friday at the office and I am wearing a new pair (washed twice) of 1969 Gap Jeans, boot cut, I love them. I also love my different Guess Jeans (ripped, dark, etc). To me, the key is wearing the right size jean, too tight of a jean can hug you in the wrong places, but a jean that fits like a glove looks the best in my opinion, tight jeans remind me of the 80s. Sorry, remember, its only my opinion, I have girlfriends that wear their jeans too tight, thats what they like though...not for me though.

My hubby looks awesome in J Crew jeans, and Banana Republic, he has a nice round buttocks, I just want to sweeze it.

Your View On BREASTFEEDING In Public

last night on the news a woman was told by a store manager that she could not in public breastfeed her child.

she and her husband were quite offended and complained to the company's main offices.

they are now looking into this situation.. what's your opinion?

To Wanderer and the other that posted that picture of the woman with the beautiful breasts, I want those! My breasts are just misquito bites after having 3 children, but I wear a good bra...let me know where I can get those boobs!

What things do you do to mark your progress away from the WTS?

i was at the meetup this week and had a couple of interesting comments about what people have done to mark their progress away from the wts/jws.. one person said that when she recognizes that she has taken another step away she rewards herself with her own private birthday party, cake and candles and sometimes even a gift.

she is doing this for all the birthdays she missed.

and it needn't fall on her birthday but it does mark some change in her.

I do it through my own three children who were never born in the org. All holidays are big in my house. We go to the X-mas parade in town the day after Thanksgiving, we go to the 4th of July parade (and participate sometimes) every year the weekend before the 4th, their birthdays are a huge deal (besides I remind all my friends one year before my b-day of what day of the week my B-day falls on the next year, "mark your calender, I want a happy birthday, lol)...this makes me happy inside to bring up my kids with these traditions (not the religious aspect of Christmas for example).

Since I ve been out for 15 years, I definitely feel like an old pro in celebrating the holidays!
