the following is an e-mail my husband sent his youngest sister ( her and her husband are still in) after a few weeks of our family going back and forth between her and her husband trying to defend our actions and reason for leaving the religion.. patricks predictions (at the risk of alienating you even more):.
in 20 years the 'end' will still be "just around the corner" jws will still feel like theyre not doing enough, even though most of their energy was spent in the society's interests you will have cast off many more friends and family at the society's behest you will still feel like this world can't go on any longer what you believe today will not be relevant after 20 years of "new light" you will be upset that i dare to speak this way, determined to prove your faithfulness to a man-made organization .
hold on to this email.
The JW's have blinded themselves to any negitive comments about their religion. They ignorately believe that they are the ones out there searching for truth because they knock on peoples doors. They often make the claim that no one has tried to show them the 'truth', but this is not true, I remember many times going out in serivce and people offering JW other religious litature at the door or trying to reasonwith them, but the fact is that the dubs just don't listen and they don't even release it!
with the memorial coming up (and all of you attending of course, haha) i wanted to post a topic that's been bugging me for quite a while:
ok, we were all taught that the last supper coincided with the passover, which was required by jews to celebrate annually.
however, i've got a couple of questions on this:
Interesting theory, but roman documents support that Jesus was excuted on the date Bible scholars claim (every religion is in agreement on this fact not just JW's).
i was reading coc last night and i started pondering over minimus' post of how the dubs are saying this is the last memorial and the end is finally here.
then i remembered the teaching that the first setoff to the big a. any thoughts on this?.
luv, jojo
The borg is horrible for contradicting itself. Here's an example:
The Jehovah's Witnesses deny that God has established different covenants or testaments for His people. Thus, they oppose the idea of an "old" covenant (testament) and a "new" one. Much of their teachings are still based in the writings which we call the "Old Testament," for the simple reason that they do not believe it has been replaced (or fulfilled) by a new covenant (testament). For this reason, they refuse to designate the two sections of the Bible as the "Old Testament" and the "New Testament." Instead, they refer to them as "The Hebrew-Aramaic Scriptures" and "The Christian Greek Scriptures." It's interesting to note, however, that they have failed to be consistent in this stand even in their own translation. In II Corinthians 3:14 the NWT speaks of "reading the old covenant." "New covenant" and "former covenant" both appear in Hebrews 9:15, and "mediator of a new covenant" appears in Hebrews 12:24, just to cite a few examples.
The fact that there are still many 'proficies' that the WTS had made up that have not been fulfilled is something the borg spends a considerable time trying to discredit. They have been stating that the end could come anytime since Russel. They envision that these proficies could some how take place over night. There are so many condradictions in their beliefs and their actions one could write a book on it.
now that i've read ray franz's part about how his uncle and others with little actual greek or hebrew training translated the bible into the nwt, i've been interested in finding the best bible out there is correctly translated by people who know what the hell they are talking about.
niv?
i've also been looking at other religions lately, ones that are "somewhat" close to the jw's teachings to an extent, and have been interested in seventh day adventists.
This is a very subjective question, as the Bible wasn't written in English, there is nothing to say one translation is better than another, for most translations contain opinions by the translator as to what certian words should mean and how they should be translated. Check this site out for a comparision of different translations:

worldwide faith news (press release), ny - 3 minutes ago .
... 25. jehovah's witnesses, 1,029,902 members, reporting a decrease of 1.07 members.
24. the orthodox church in america, 1,064,000 members, reporting an increase of 6.40 percent.
The US is the launching board for ALL JW activites. Once the membership and elders there are effected the rest of the world will follow.
i was asked.......... since i dont belive what the witlessness do.... who do i consider to be the faithful and discreet slave?
now im not ashamed to admit i havent quite figured that out yet, so my reply was, it could be any minister who truely looks out for their congregation.
so my question is this....... what and who do those scriptures represent?
I refer you here:

Because the WTS has lied when it comes to science. The book they wrote 'Life: How did it get here?' is filled with inacurate statements and even lies to try and discredit evolution. Check out these sites for a more balanced view:

ok here's the plan: i am planning on writing the elders a letter stating my concerns over issues such as 607 bce, un, their de-emphsis on jesus.
i am a major techo freak, i have spy camaras with color and sound, webcams, a cell phone with 512mb of memory that can take video's with sound and high quality tape recorders.
i am having car troubles right now, so the elders are going to come over to my house to meet.
Alright folks here it is, I have picked the best questions that I thought were relivent and will try and get as many of these in as I can. As you know elders don't like getting asked questions so I don't know how far I will get but I will try my best!
Narrowed Down list:
· A friend of mine at school who knows that I’m a JW told me about a dateline show about JW and child molestation, he then mentioned a website Silent Lams dedicated to JW who have suffered from child molestation at the hands of Elders and other witnesses, have you heard of this?
· If I know of someone in the congregation who is a child molester, and I report him what would you do in that case?
· At what point would you contact the police?
· While doing research on the child molestation problem in the congregations, I came across a news article that stated that the WTS was once a member of the UN as an NGO, I checked and found this to be true. Isn’t it hypocritical to join the disgusting thing standing in the holy place, when the WTS says we shouldn’t be part of any political organizations?
· I was reading some older Watchtower magazines and came across the term ‘Theocratic Warfare Strategy’ what does that mean? Have you ever used it?
· If Jehovah’s organization is spirit directed, why so many mistakes?
