  Have got myself in a bit of trouble

  not a big amount of trouble, only a little bit of trouble.

  Don't worry about any trouble with the elders. As another poster stated, they will only counsel you on why you should be chapperoned. Probably nothing new that you have not allready heard.

  As for the father, he was probably angry at the moment and did what he thought he should. Don't forget fathers are usually very protective of their daughters.

  In my opinion, you did what a true gentleman would do. You offered a lady (regardles of age, I will call her a lady) a ride home. Per your text, that was your only thought and objective. It is a shame that people are not trusted more than they are.

  I once offered two young sisters a ride home and was repremanded severely for it. It was in the middle winter and snowing. The sisters (both spiritually and actual sisters) were 17 and 19. When I asked the elders if it was wrong during a snow storm to offer a woman a ride they responded "YES, you are wrong !"

  Jesus told us to love everyone and by giving some one a ride, no matter what the honorable reason is, that is love towards your neighbor.

  THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLDING HANDS!

  i started a thread a long hug http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/128891/1.ashx which touches on the below, but feel this subject deserves a thread of its own.. a study, highlighted on bbc breakfast news yesterday, acknowledged the importance of holding hands in a relationship, courting or married.

  it was stated that couples who hold hands in the street are more likely to have a solid relationship - and especially those who interlink their fingers when holding hands as this indicates a desire to be as close to each other as possible.

  arm linking is ok, too, but couples who just walk about not holding hands - and this includes married couples - indicates the relationship could be in trouble.. do you hold hands with your spouse/partner?

  My wife and I hold hands all the time. It does make me feel closer to her. Even when driving I will reach out for her hand and only release it there is a curve ahead which is better managed with two hands on the wheel. LOL

  HockyMullet, Sir82... In my congregation it was also frowned upon to hold hands. Young couples who were "getting to know each other" were forbidden to hold hands. Even the engaged to be married couples were counseled on how worldly it was to do this. Sad really.

  Aux Pioneering on and off (mostly off)

  Public reader of the WT on Sundays. (is that the right terminology?)

  In charge of the sound system and making sure we had the right song on the record player at the meetings.

  Never did become a MS. They didn't like me being different in my thinking and attitude. In other words, I was not a hipocrite and voiced my oppinion when they could not show love or tenderness to others.

  my sister-in-law wants to come out here for the convention this year.

  i believe it's just an excuse to come and see my boy, but whatever.

  they ususally stay at my parents' house when they come out.

  My Bethel Experience part 8

  well it is 4:00 a.m. in the morning and i can't sleep, so might has well write.. everything at bethel is seniority........"how long have you been here?

  " if you wanted a better room you need some seniority, rooms would go up on a bid system.

  if you were a new boy, and all your friends were new boys, it could be a year or two before you got a decent room and 10 years to get a room with its own bathroom, pre towers days.

  I think I figured it out.

  It's not 50% but .50%, the decimal was left out. If we take .50% of 85,000,000 it would equal 425 people who responded.

  That would make more sense wouldn't it ?

  Hambeaks Extremely Heartbreaking News

  our friend hambeak just got the most dreaded phone call from his jw child.

  the news was passed on as he was asked for by name and not as"dad" and let known that "they" just called to let him know that his other son, brian, age 26, is dead.

  he was in a car accident.

  as ex-mormon, my exposure to a different version of the first vision story which was quite different from the offical first vision was my beginning way out of mormonism.

  what about you ex-jw's?

  Ditto to everything said on this thread, but mostly the hipocrasy. Love your neighbor, we'll hate you !

  One thursday meeting a prominent elder in the cong. said we should all make a special attempt to go out on service the following Saturday. Put preaching ahead of any personal things you need to do.

  So, Saturday morning as I am walking with my companion, we turn the corner onto the street where the Elder lives(d). Guess who is packing their SUV with a picnic basket, beach ball and all the other supplies for a day at the shore ? Yep, you guessed.

  Sunday I went to the KH, stayed for 5 minutes and then I just could not control my feet from taking action and escorting me out. Never have been back.
