we are df'd about 2 years now.

our jw friends shunned us.. if one such friend now reaches out to contact us that would surely be a good thing, yes?

i hear you baltar447 - but let me add something to the mix - it may be an exceptionally emotionally vulnerable person that has left the JW's (and their partner)

Would that influence how we ex-cult members treat someone trying to rebuild their lives outside the group?

Well, it might depend on the situation. But ask yourself, what if the mate that was innocent didn't do anything really bad and was a pretty decent person? Then you're offering support to the one who broke up a family. I'd have a problem with that regardless of a person's religion.

I'd find out more about it if it was me.

I think it's deplorable that I've seen people come on here and welcome ones that have broken up families just because they are leaving the org or DF'd. If you willingly break up a family(I don't care what your religion is) you shouldn't be getting high-fives and hugs.

i understand that he still lives in ny are and has a mortgage company.

evidently, he was hurt while serving at the farm and watchtower did some horrible things to him.

I think about the same as I did before - he's amusing and sometimes hilarious. I don't care about his personal life - nor that of Roman Polanski, Frank Sinatra, Brad Pitt, etc., etc. I couldn't care less. In fact, I'd rather not know. I do not understand why this has dominated the news recently.

I understand not caring to know about celebrities and their ilk, but Roman Polanski? Oh wait, that's right, he didn't "rape" rape, a 13 year old girl.

I think he's a goofy guy. Funny.

While NOT approving of his philandering, I do give him props for standing up and admitting his faults in front of the entire nation/world. Also for not letting himself be extorted by a criminal.

dissed: ok, I will grant you that if the twitter page was created a week ago it would look ALOT more suspiscious. But something about this story smells fishy. And this person's twitter posts are extremely vague. I just think it smells, and not necessarily from the WTS side of it.

Someone comes on here with a screen name of "BetheliteElder" with 17 posts mind you (I know, I know, me=pot, kettle, black, etc) and everyone jumps up and down to read and eat up this convoluted story.

Thats all. And no, I am not a troll, just a lurker that is in and staying that way, thanks. Doesn't mean I have delusions about the nature of humans and that fact that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Alas, the congos in the book of Rev were messed up too. Look how much correction they needed. /end:hijack
