"Safeguard Your Mind" assembly targeting apostate thinking
by promised_presence ini recently attended the second day of the 2 day assembly for safeguarding your mind.
the first talk was entitled "feed your mind at jehovah's table".
the first portion of this talk specifically targeted apostates warning members to not listen to them "even if they were once strong in the truth or had great responsiblity in the congregation".

BOC, my wife said she tried Xanax once and she was so flat her kids could have been murdered in front of her and she would have been, "meh, whatever".

SAD news about OOMPA......
by redredrose inour friend, oompa, has passed away.
just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

Even thought I've been around quite a while, lurking for alot of that, I knew oompa's basic story and as soon as this happened, I went back and re-read several of his threads to make sure I had his story correct in my head before posting anything. Never a jw, please use the search option, search for OOMPA and read his threads and know his story. There is no excuse to be ignorant now with all the resources at hand. Instead of asking silly questions just use the search feature BEFORE you post. Thanks sorry to be blunt but I'm not in a great mood today. Peace

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

They were just waiting for some excuse to "spiritually execute" him. His wife probably shares ALOT of responsibility too, I wonder if his kids hold her responsible for ratting him out.

blame the cult.. suicide is a very complicated behavior.. mental health professionals caution against assigning blame when people kill themselves.. being disfellowshipped is a life stress and some people are not equipped mentally to handle it.

Would it be poor taste to find out who these elders were that were on his committee and send then a note saying
"How does it feel to share responsibility to someone taking their own life?"
