  My story in part....

  well i guess i should give you my story as of now.

  i have been a jw now for about 6 years and have been the model witness.

  about a year ago i started reading my bible and writing down verses that i didn?t understand.

  Welcome What the.....

  I can relate to your story - I started finding a lot that didn't "mesh" with the organization teachings when I started reading the bible by itself. I asked my father about it and his response was "well, you can read the bible all you want but you won't get a clear understanding of it without the help from the society"......what the?!

  It sounded exactly like my Mormon friend who believes she can't have a clear understanding of the scriptures without the help of the prophet who is the only annointed one to receive light from God......sound familiar?

  Keep reading - and pray to God asking him to open your eyes to the truth. You'll be amazed at what you find.

  What was the purpose of Creation?

  i was talking to some jehovah witness in a bible study, and we got into a conversation of heaven.

  i told him that we would all be in heaven and live there, and he told me, "what would be the point of god creating the whole earth and putting us here then destroying it?

  wouldn't it just be easier to repair the earth and place us here again?

  I think part of the answer can be found in the end of Revelation - that heaven and earth will be joined - God will actually live with his people. I think "heaven" is really only a state that is in existence while "sin" is in the world - it was originally meant to be heaven/earth combined - and will again be combined.

  Not sure you'd find that in any formal christian teaching though - it's just some thoughts I have come up with after reading the bible.

  by how many people

  even more so how many people you meet here and after getting a chance to know them, learn they know some of the very same people you do?

  (for example i met a woman here on the board whom i have never met personally but she knows some people that i grew up, even the 'brother' who gave me my first kiss..

  My Brother Died Today

  i consider all who post here as my family.we have all been hurt in some way.my brother died today.. blueblades,who has six sisters left.mom,dad,one sister and two brothers died.i'm the only man in the family now.

  i was just reading through this new brochure "what does god require of us?

  " that was "placed" with me last week.. it is set up to be studied with a householder in short sessions - each lesson is only about 6-7 paragraphs.

  the first three are quite simple - general statements with a supporting scripture.

  and I always felt that there was a strong possibilty that I could not prove, that there really was no god at all.

  True - likewise, there is a strong possibility that you can not prove the alternative.

  Are you aware of other influences of mind control In your life today?

  There are all types of influences/mind control in everyone's life. Are you patriotic? If so, it is most likely because you were told from the time you were small that the country you live in is the Right one.

  Do you like to eat live bugs? Probably not - because you have been conditioned to think that they are disgusting - whereas other cultures view them a delicacy.

  Mind control is inevitable in any society - it's important, however, to recognize it and to be aware of it's existence so it does not take control of your life in a negative way.

  need to worship?

  as a former jehovahs witness, one who was raised in the faith, and eventually became a pioneer and ms; i left 20 years ago and at this juncture in my do not feel the need to join any other religion.

  it is not that i still believe any of the jw teachings, i just do not believe any organized religion, not christianity, judaism or muslim.

  i feel that i am a deeply spiritual person; agnostic, but because of my "jw adventure" , i not longer feel the need to worship.. i am curious to know how the rest of you feel after leaving that faith...is there still a need to worship, or has that feeling also passed with you?.

  I don't feel required to worship - if by worship you mean attending church. But I do attend a non-denominational church now regularly because I enjoy it. But if I feel like sleeping in......I DO!
