I went to both extremes........at times I was a bad example..........then other times I was aux. pioneering and giving experiences on the district assembly platform. Go figure.....must be multiple personality hu?!
The truth is....I was trying really hard to be "good" but I just couldn't live up to it. I had a love for God and Jesus - but just couldn't tow the line on all the other stuff.

Right on Brummie.......I had nightmares for over 10 years after I was DF'd. But they're gone now.
i remember when they would discourage kids from taking colors or coloring books to the meetings.
so i thought ok, i will give my kid a pen and my book of bible stories to keep him busy.
then they said that was a bad idea because he might write on the furniture and it wasnt good to teach them to write on the wbt publications.
Many other religions have Sunday schools, summer camps and all sorts of activities that could make Christianity a joy.
Exactly!! I work with a children's music camp group at my church and I absolutely love it.
I think the real problem is that the organization does not value children. But they are so missing out. Jesus said that if someone wanted to be part of his kingdom he should become like a child - what better way to understand that message than to spend time teaching, protecting, and supporting children?!
And all these stories I read on here about people forcing other people's children to "behave" - man............they care more about their kids being quiet than they do about protecting them!

i did meet them once and of course they were completely nice to my face and totally opposite behind my back, which i guess is not surprising since in their eyes i am corrupting their son.
After years of helping out my family every time they needed something - only to get slammed about being DF'd again and again......my recommendation is DON'T HELP!! If he's a 'dub let his dubbie friends help him out.
You sound a lot like me in that you want to help people and hope that they will respond to the good that you show them. But the dub people are brainwashed and it doesn't help. Instead, offer your hand of support to someone else that really could use the help. I have quit going out of my way to help my family, instead, I help charities and people in my church that need (and appreciate) the help.

The person who stated that the JW organization hates children is right on! The more I think about it......the more I realize how much children are just in the way.
At the church I attend now there is a lot of time and effort put out specifically for children and young teens. I work with one of the children's programs and I realize how many people, time, and resources it takes just to keep those programs up and running effectively. That's not something you will do unless it's important to you. And children just aren't important to the borg.
So I have a good suggestion........why don't they just send their kids our way and we'll be glad to train them while their parents are in the meetings and out in service!

a couple weeks ago, my wife and i stopped at our favorite pizza shop after furniture shopping all day sunday.
settled in at a table directly across from us was a nicely dressed young couple and a similarly dressed grey haired gentleman.. he had a bible that looked strangely familiar, so i kind of (horrors) eaves-dropped a little.

I brought my son books, color crayons, snacks - all kinds of stuff. I refused to make him behave like an adult when he was just a little tyke. Of course - I was bored of my @ss too so I couldn't necessarily get mad at him for being bored.
I was DF'd when he was only 4 - didn't go back again.
Now my daughter has been coming with me to church since she was 3 and absolutely loves the sunday school - of course - they cater to children there. And she knows more about the bible than my son ever did.
I asked my mom once why the JW's don't have sunday schools. She sayd it's because when Moses called the Isrealites together he said to gather them all young and old....... how lame an excuse is that?! So I responded - "And didn't he also tell them all they had to be circumcised? Dad better make an appointment asap!" She didn't know what to say in response - she just told me I was being unreasonable and wouldn't accept anything the society said. Well duh!
when i was a kid i was scared shitless of demons.
a couple of years ago i posted this subject, and some asswipes just suggested that i was just a scared little boy and that i should have just kept a stiff upper lip.. i was raised in this crappy religion and i recall that from the very beginning, i was told that demons were always around me.
i remember as a young child, i was told of stories of children that would go to bed and feel the edge of their bed go down slowly as a demon sat on the edge of the bed, ready to do whatever eveil they had planned for the evening.
I think many of us can relate to your story. My parents used the "demon card" to scare me on many occasions. I can even remember my brother relating stories when he was older about his clock being demonized and stupid stuff like that. He believed it.
Well - I was afraid of demons, and armageddon, and all that stuff. But as I learned the truth about the org those things faded away along with any guilt I had over leaving.
I believe that demons, evil spirits, whatever they are.....only have as much power as you give them. Just like your fears and your nightmares - when you confront the siutation and show light on it the boogie man fades.
