i was talking to my twin sister tonight on how i didn't want to go to the upcoming convention this weekend because we had already been to it 2 months ago... .
i have to prepare some audition matrial for a arts event and my parents are not sympathtic to the fact i got allot to do, and we've already been.

Not necessarily. People change, situations change....just hang in there. Do what you feel you need to for now - but don't forget that you can always change your mind. If you decide to stay in for your family right now, that does not mean that you have to stay in forever. Just take it one day at a time.
if you are no longer associating with jws either from fading or daing or being df'd, do you miss your jw friends?
have you found over time that the void was filled and you no longer needed them?
did you in fact find out your life was happier without them?
I missed a few of them at first. But as I made new friends in the "world" - and discovered they were actually less judgmental, more supportive, and a heck of a lot more fun............
I don't miss any of my old friends.
If I was hit in the head tomorrow, suffered a terrible loss of memory, and returned to the JW's to be reinstated ('cause it would take a terrible loss of memory to do something that stupid )......I can't see that I would find any good friends there any more. I am really drawn to people who are "transparent" - true to themselves and honest - not faky. I like people who are honest with me - whether I want to hear it or not. And I like people who have a mind, are not afraid to share what they think, and don't necessarily always have the same opinion as me.
Yep - I just can't see myself friends with a JW any longer.

I only seen this post after the edit - so I don't know the ages of the people involved. However, I have worked in the law enforcement field for a number of years and have seen many cases of children (and adolescents) molesting other children.
Report it - it's the best thing to do for a number of reasons. (1) stop the molestation from continuing with other child/victims, (2) the child/perpetrator will most likely receive treated through counseling - something they need as soon as possible, (3) the child/victim may also get free counseling - depending on what State you are in, (4) this child/perpetrator learned this from someone - and that someone may still be abusing them also - if not other children/victims. A police investigation may reveal who that person is and stop them from continuing the cycle of abuse also.
I know it's hard - but trust me - do it!

ex-jw's especially need a local to meet new people and get a new social perspective!.
Hubby and I like Olive Garden - it is close to our house and they have a really nice lounge that is usually pretty empty. It's quiet - nice atmosphere - and we get good service. Good place to visit and hang out.

now that we're starting to read the bible at the beginning again.........i was wondering if this subject has ever been discussed.. the length of the creative days........used to be considered 7000 years in length.......stated rather dogmatically up until around the mid 1980's.
(aid book says this......insight book does not) of course....this is quite rediculous.......... more recent publications don't stress this .........just periods of time.......... yet there was never anything published to indicate how wrong this old view was.........done very gradually.......i think some still think the creative days were still 7000 years long.. if this topic has come up before.....maybe someone could post a link to it..
and........how do you explain:
1. day and night BEFORE creation of the sun and moon
2. Earth being created BEFORE the sun and moon (and it revolved around what?? and had gravity because of what??? and the earth tides....now they must have really been screwed up!!!)
.........just a few of the many many problems I see with a literal interpretation of Genesis. Personally...I think that it is an ancient people's attempt to explain their universe. Kind of how we give simple explanations to our children that do not really explain the WHOLE concept because they're not yet able to understand.
But I don't think Genesis is complete hogwash either......I believe there are lessons and messages to each of us if we're willing to look for them in the stories told.
For example...have you ever wonder what exactly the "knowledge of good and bad" is? I have an idea but would be interested in hearing your thoughts first.

why does everyone have to drag their bible students and in active friends and family members to the meeting during that week?.

Well...........I sure would like to spend a few minutes with a CO now.................they think they have so much bible knowledge over everyone else. But the truth is......they are lost - there are so many scriptures they have never seen. I can even prove to them that the holy spirit is a person using their own NWT.
Hmmmm - perhaps the CO will visit me next time? I doubt it!
things were different when you were active in the org.
meetings, talks, service, assemblies, elders meetings, congrgational duties, busy with the hope of a reward of living forever and serving god with eternity in view.
all of your efforts and goals related to being a jw, your thinking, your views, your life, your future all revolved aroung the org.. with all that aside, what are you doing now?

I do have a purpose though - to raise my children to be healthy and successful - and to do what I can for others. Even little things can make someone else's life better.
hello all.. i am compiling information about jw's and former jw's who seemed to either have an extra sensativity toward demons, or who had outright experiences with them.
these experiences may include ambiguous contact as well, ie, "i'm not sure what the hell it was, but it was weird.".
what did you do during the experience to resist or make the demon(s) go away?.
Hi Wednesday: I've had that whispering thing too.....I believe it is also a part of the sleep paralysis thing. You're subconscious mind is still in dream state yet you are conscious. It's definately a very freaky thing!
I used to be afraid of the boogie man as a 'dub - of course they use the "demons" as a scare tactic to keep you in. Don't go outside the borg or you may get caught by the demons!
I have had one very weird experience - at my brother's murder scene. It would take too long to explain.....but it was definately freaky. It caused me to do some real research in the bible about these things and I'm glad I did - because now I'm not afraid anymore. After reading about them in the bible I realize they have no power over Jesus - and since I have accepted Jesus into my life, they have now power over me!
Just one more thing I am free from - fear!
