  Kingdom hall right next to another chruch.

  today i took a ride in a city where i never go.

  i saw a kingdom hall and about 500 feet away i saw an evangelist church.

  both buildings on the same side of the street, look quite similar and so close to each other.

  after reading puternut's post "interesting visit" i wonder if his cong.

  is an isolated incident or not.

  i personally dont know of any pedophile elders, but i'm sure there are some in my area.

  This phenomenon isn't limited to the JW's. In fact, the profile of a pedophilia includes someone with high standing or responsibilities in their church. Scary hu?!

  Some churches now require background checks before you can work in the youth groups - I think that's a good idea. I also have taught my daughter that she NEVER leaves the group with anyone. If a teacher wants her to leave the group and go with them alone she is to tell them NO and go tell another teacher that it is her mom's rule not to leave the group.

  So sad that we have to watch our kids everywhere - even at school and church.

  i got my mcsd.net at the end of last year (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/63489/1.ashx) and as someone suggested, mcdba was a logical next step.. i passed "70-228 sql server 2000 system administration" last week and just passed "70-290 maintaining a windows 2003 server environment" today so i'm now an mcdba (microsoft certified database administrator).. i'm now thinking of persuing the 'server track' - 2 more exams woudl get me mcsa (system administrator) and 3 more after that mcse (system engineer).. multiple certification being **a very good thing**

  Why I wasn't such a good witness.......

  i was thinking about my past as a jw today and realized that i never did fit the mold quite right.

  i studied, went to the meetings, out in service, and all those things so i appeared to be a great example.

  and i really did love god and wanted to do the right thing.

  I have been of the opinion that it is up to US to make the world a better place - and we're supposed to be doing it now. Jesus set the example - he feed people and took care of them. He didn't just walk around and say "well - in the next life it'll be better so keep looking towards that and listen to my message" - instead, he took care of their needs in this life. Much of his preaching work was accomplished through his actions, not his words.

  since leaving the jdubs, i find i enjoy lighting up a pipe in the evening, or sometimes the occasional cigar.

  tried cigarettes but i don't care for them much, myself.

  Smoking shrinks your weenie

  Good thing I don't have one! I smoked for over 12 yrs......quit.....smoked again for a little bit.......quit.......now smoke occasionally (about once a month when I go out with my girl friends - then hack like mad the next day and vow never to do it again until the next month when like a wretched weakling I do it all over again)

  I Give Up - Where Can I Find Some Good Beef?

  folks, i know that good tasting steaks and ground beef exist - all the years of my youth and when i was raising my family, beef tasted great.

  now no matter where i buy it, whole foods, ralph's kosher, black angus, etc, the beef tastes downright nasty.. vons has pretty good beef, and i haven't tried an actual meat market, but where do you find good beef?
