  Thrust into the middle again

  i have been very lucky over the past few years to have a good relationship with my mom (she's a long time faithful jw and i'm a long time df'd person) and avoid any contact with the rest of the jw world.

  unfortunately, this has all rapidly changed in the past several weeks.

  my mom was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness and has only a short time to live.

  Sometimes the "worst thing" turns out to be the "best thing"

  hi all - it's been a while since i've gotten a chance to sign on and visit you all.

  nice to be back.

  i wanted to share a story with you - maybe it will help some that are just getting out and going through a rough time.. a good friend of mine came to me today - he and his wife are expecting their first child and just found out it has down's syndrome.

  because of this, god sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie; that they all might be judged who didn't believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

  growing up as a jw i believed that this scripture applied point blank to apostates - those that decided not to believe in jehovah.

  because of this one scripture i was terrified to really look into my doubts and ask too many questions - i was afriad that god might decide to just "let me believe a lie" and write me off.. it took me a long time to get over that fear - the one scripture that finally resonated with me one day was mathew 7:7 "ask and it will be given to you".

  Procrastinating on fun

  weird subject line - i know.

  but here's my question to other posters.. there are a number of things i have always wanted to do, like go scuba diving, take a trip somewhere exotic, etc - but i would find excuses why i couldn't do it - usually just something inside said "oh - you could never do that".

  well - a couple of years ago i decided to just start doing some of the things i always wanted.

  Going to Maui and looking for advice

  my girfriends and i are planning a trip to maui next year to go diving and snorkeling.

  we already have the condo reserved.

  has anyone here been to maui?

  as a scuba diver that is .

  now i can mark off one more thing from my "things to do before i die" list.

  i really like this one - i think it's going to be a life long hobby..

  Thinking of writing a book

  i've been contemplating writing a book called "from the other side" .

  basically a story about leaving the jw's.

  only instead of focusing on what's wrong with the jw's (not that i wouldn't have a lot of material there!!.

  I graduated!

  it's been a while since i've posted - been busy with family, work and school.

  missed a lot of you - see a lot of new faces!

  just had to get on tonight and let you old timers know that i finally did it - i graduated with my bs in computer science.

  Weird experience

  this weekend i was having a discussion with my husband about "listening to that inner voice" - you know, the one that says you should take that risk because you could be a real success, but you talk yourself out of it.

  or it tells you not to trust that office mate, but you convince yourself you're being silly, only to get back-stabbed later on.

  that "inner voice" that somehow can notice those subtle, unconscious messages that we miss in our conscious state.. i told my husband that i was going to work on listening to that voice - and stop talking myself out of things when i just know it is something i should do - mostly with career decisions and relationships in mind.. after this discussion i head to the grocery store to get some goodies for the football game.
