  Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses

  i was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.

  this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.

  it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.

  I was reading on a European ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for North America issue. This is due that many in USA and Canada leave home to leave on campus. It was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities  and its not frowned on.

  This is the main line of reasoning from many JWs here in Italy, they would like their religion not to be considered an obsurantist sect.
  My experience in 2008 , when I was MS, we held a meeting with elders and CO, and he gave a specific talk on higher education, and how to discourage parents in allowing  their children attending university.
  CO stressed a lot, really.
  Moreover I know very well and I listened to the notorious Morris talk in Italy .
  Then , there may be different situations in different congregations. For sure no privilege are assigned while a young brother is attending university.
  I know very few JWs attended  University , and almost the totality quit the "Truth" at some point during their educational cicle.
  
  By listening Morris on tv.jw.org it is now very clear, and I'm happy they're exposed themselves, what is really scaring the Governing Body: it's especially about intellectual impact of higher education, and not sexual morality in the campus.
  It's nice when Morris tells story about the conversation with the mother of a young brother attending university : "he now believes in EVOLUTION !! ... HOW SAD"
  That makes clear what they really are : herald of obscurantist ideology. This is SAD !

  been out now for 10 yrs but life is a mess.

  starting to think its because i have no spiritual compass.

  why shouldn't i consider going back?.

  during the discussion the elder mentioned: jehovah's witnesses is most attacked religion in the world.

  there are no other religions that are under the spotlight.

  @Ancientofdays: The countries you have listed with no JWs is not accurate.

  Da.Furius , I based my list on Annual Report. I's the only available source, as far as I know.
  Can you list the countries-no-JWs where you know JWs are under ban ?

  By the way , some small mistake in the list due to countries named in italian declination, while the Annual Report was english, is possible.

  The above is an elder's bullshit !
  
  I recently have seen a report (on paper) which listed all the country around the world where Christians are under persecution, a real persecution where their life in on danger (not apostates bla , bla, bla).
  Then I've gone on the annual report to check how many "Christians" JWs are there in those countries.
  In none of the following countries , where Christians are risking their life, the JWs are under persecution. That's for sure, you know why ? because no JWs exists there ..:

  Afghanistan --> none JWs
  Iraq --> none JWs
  Algery --> none JWs
  Egypt --> none JWs
  Libia --> none JWs
  Oman --> none JWs
  Barhein --> none JWs
  Saudi Arabia --> none JWs
  Somalia --> none JWs
  Tagykistan --> none JWs
  North Korea --> none JWs
  Vietnam --> none JWs
  Laos --> none JWs
  Brunei --> none JWs
  
  
  These countries have some JWs, not too much indeed , excluding Nigeria.

  New DVD review

  i managed to catch the new dvd on youtube last night before the inevitable takedown.

  as a film i felt it wasn't anywhere near as good as the prodigal movie, the story wasn't as dramatic, the characters much less interesting and developed and the direction weaker.

  i found the prodigal relatively entertaining (all things considered) this one was just dull.. here are some of my random thoughts anyway [spoiler alert - ha!].

  This part at 45':35" is awful

  Son : let me live my life , make my own choices and my mistakes ..
  Father: do you believe that the mistakes that we have no effect on others ?
  And then begins the climax , the real epiphany in this narrative , emphasized by the musical climate ...
  His father tells him that he, as a boy , he drove a fast car after drinking beer ,
  causing an accident, the death of his younger brother .
  And after this revelation tells his son : you have to do family worship : it is NOT OPTIONAL !
  
  WHAT !?!?!
  The father has committed a crime , caused the death of a person.
  It ' a crime! for which you will normally be prosecuted and imprisoned.
  What to do with the son he doesn't want to make a fucking family worship
  and even knocking on doors , but rather prefer to play in a band ???
  What is the connection ???

  CO is chasing me . Meeting him tomorrow.

  this week is the "special week", co is back.. he phone called me this morning asking to meet together.. i replied "i don't refuse people who want talking to me, but my condition is that you must be alone, and we meet in public space.".

  he agreed and we will meet tomorrow in a cafe.. .

  this week he already met with my wife in the kh, and he told her "i believe your housband is apostate !!

  I had the chat.

  It was 1,30 hours conversation in a public area, me and him alone as I planned.

  I'm writing down some notes, then I'll wait some days just to see if there will be some measures agains myself, and then I'll publish some.

  He was friendly , bought for the coffes , and when we parted he asked: can I ring you when I'm back next time ?

  Thanks everyone for your comments.
  I will meet this guy , leaving aside the consequences for me.
  I want to clarify with him because I blamed her behavior in the previous visit , and I try to throw a message or call : if you really believe in this organization and you care of it , work to change it , to make it more humane and tolerant, or one day you might assist its dissolution and keeps nothing. Or at least you will be set-aside by the organization for age limits, and you will count nothing.
  (then for me is PLUNK.. )

  @XstuckX - Why meet with him? Seems like it would be a lot easier to just say no: I've no answer for this.

  @NotNew - For start...why be rude? : Usually I'm not. But this guy, during his visit last year, has tried to involve my wife to make her testify against me, as second witnesses. He has lobbied saying that Jehovah expect this from her, and calling for loyalty to Jehovah, and urging his sense of guilt. Face to face, I will say that it is unethical to use other people as your tools for your purposes. Week after his visit it was announced I am “marked”.

  @breakfast of champions: You touched exatctly one of my points. End is not coming and suddendly, 20 years, you'll be in your 70. What are you doing then ?

  @tiki - “fly under the radar” seems like a good metaphor. This is the 4th CO I meet with in the last 8 years, when I started fading.

  @cantleave- I would say “I'm sure about evidence, and evidence is that God is used by GB”

  @blondie – I think CO would like to solve this “problem”, me, before leaving for another Circuit. I like to see his next move at this point. My wife , she knows all about me, we had lot of conflict in the past years, but now we're stable. She's aware from years that sooner or later I will be DFd or DA.

  @Billy – yes will try. Like I did last year...
