i came across something i'd written exactly 2 weeks and 5 days after i first became convinced (in a stupor) the the watchtower society wasn't the channel of god--and that they didn't have "the truth.
when a person sins against god.
the society is here teaching that confession of sins is something we do to jehovah.

Leopard vs. Poodle | ||
A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her poodle along for company. One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a hungry-looking leopard heading rapidly in his direction. The poodle thinks, "Oh, oh!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?" Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That poodle nearly had me!" Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back so you can watch me chew that poodle to bits!" Now, the poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and waits until they get just close enough to hear. "Where's that damn monkey?" the poodle says, "I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!" |
i found this website a few days ago, and ive stayed up until 3 and 4 a.m. every night since reading the all-too-familiar stories.
i applaud you for sharing your stories and being so open and caring to others who venture onto this site.
i wish id had you 9 years ago when i was dfd.
Wow! What a story. Thanks for sharing with us and welcome to the board!!!
i just recently got back from maui, hawaii ... so if i am late to the party on this subject, sorry.
i just unplug from information, while on vacation.
although, while there we did hear that anna nichol smith died.
I think the whole situation is so sad. I feel bad for her life. No one seemed to take care of her or help her, they just lived off of her, made fun of her etc. No one really stepped up and tried to get her off the road she was headed down. I think it is sad that this baby has had such a traumatic start in her life. While I don't agree with alot of her life choices, I am in no position to judge her. I don't know her or what went on in her life/mind that led her to those choices.
please, this question is for those who are christians and believe in the bible.
no need for those who are not christians, don't believe in the bible or mock religion/the bible/god/jesus to respond, especially if the response is going to be nasty or offensive.
what christian group do you guys think is following in the footsteps of jesus and the apostles?
I think Drew and L.L. nailed it on the head. IMO anyway.
hi everyone, i recently joined this forum as i'm close to being df.
i am suppose to meet with a judical committee soon but was thinking that i don't want to go through those personal questions that i'm sure the elders would ask.
does anyone know, is it better to just tell the elders before, say like on the phone, that i want to be df and not go through the committee?
Mary cracks me up. I would go with her suggestions, too fun!!!
at age 18, i was a regular pioneer.
at 20, a ministerial servant.

I made it all the way up to Disfellowshipped!!! I am so highly regarded that JW must turn their heads when they see me, as a sign of respect of course!!
dear new ones,.
sometimes you post your first post in the middle of a thread, and you slip by without being properly "welcomed"!
so we want to welcome you and thank you all for stepping forward, for sharing your comments and your stories.
I cant believe how many newbies there are!! I am so glad. Welcome to all of them!!
a local elder is to give the talk next week at his own wife's upcoming funeral at the kingdom hall.
i've been told he seems as happy as can be.
she died from cancer and leaves behind 6 grown up children, youngest a teenager about 16 i think.. could someone please point me in the direction of the funeral talk outline?
Instead of eulogizing the deceased, use the material in this outline to give a fine witness
concerning the truth
Really??? Does it really say that???? It can't..can it?? IS this real? Thats horrible.
well i have been living alone now for a week for the first time in about 6 years and apart from one or two minor episodes i am really really enjoying the freedom of it.
i feel like a weight has been lifted.
i feel free again - a tiny bit lonely at night - but mostly i think i've recaptured that long lost spring in my step.
I absolutley loved living by myself. I love having kids and all that, but I had a great time on my own. My husband is extremely clingy/needy and that gets really old after a while, especially if you are used to doing your own thing. Plus. I like things a certain way, which is always opposite of the way my husband likes them, so it definitely makes for alot of head butting that being on your own avoids. I am so glad I had time on my own before I got married. I think everyone needs that.
