"i enjoyed your talk Brother"
by fleaman uk ini was musing about being a jw the other day.im not scarred by it like many,i dont hate anyone in my old cong..theres a couple of idiotic elders of course, but in the main my biggest thing when i think of my past life is the farsical nonsense of it all!.
meeting attendance, knocking on doors...oh dear.. one of the stupidest things was being required to do talks.i mean, come on who really used to listen to that drivel..i mean really listen?.
i was an ok speaker, nothing briliant, competent ..even gave a pub talk once when all the elders were on a jolly up at elders school.. it occurred to me how robotic bros and sis were when it came to giving praise!no matter how crap the talk was,one would always get a "i really enjoyed your talk brother".every time.without fail.i know they were being nice,i used to say it all the time too.my dad once said it to me and i asked him what he liked most about it?he admitted he didnt remember what it was even about.i dont remember in 30 years man and boy ever enjoying a talk.. yep,its a nonsense religion alright.full of braindead robots.. did anyone actually pay close attention and really enjoy the "food"from the platform?

I used to daydream the whole time. I rarely got anything out of it. And if I did, it din;t last long. My parents use to make us tell CO and travelong speakers we enjoyed their talks. I tried to get up there and tell them as fast as I could and get away so my Mom would stop harrassing me about it.

Do you speak to currant members of the JW's
by silversurfer1 inmany on this site have describe their exiting this group as "fading".
which i believe allows one to maintain some civil contact and or association with friends and family.
it probably helps when running into jw's in ones normal routine of life.

I have been DF for 3 years, but I work with 3 JW. One of them is an older lady and she is as nice as could be, and treats me no different, never has. The other two, however, are definite shunners. It used to bother me, but after I did alot of research and really confirmes it was not the truth, I didn't want to waste my time feeling blue about it. I say hello to them just like I do everyone else, it is their problem, not mine.

Nothing important.
by skyking inblinders have many uses for people, religious, political... but no matter the type of blinders, blinders are dangerous.
different people have different ideas, they are not stupid or dumb if their ideas happen to be different than yours.
hurtful words can be as damaging, as damaging as a person with blinders on.

I agree there can be some rude dogs, but hold your head high and do what you came to do.

I think the words or phrases boring, guilt fest, brow beating, scary, and waste of time need to be included.

Did You Ever "Tell Off" An Elder or Circuit Overseer?
by minimus ini know of very few that would "dare" tell off a co but elders were different.
having been an elder for many years, it was very easy to go back and forth with a fellow elder and basically tell him he was dumb.

I never really told any of them off, out loud. In my last committee meeting, when I was still trying to be reinstated (this was my 12th meeting ) they asked me again if I was sorry for what I had done. It had been a mistake I made two years prior, had attended every meeting after, did all the showing repentance crap and had enough of "apologizing" to three old guys. And I told them as much, although I didn;t call them old, I just said, No, I am no longer apologizing, I did my time, learned my lesson etc. Besides, now I have a beautiful baby girl, that came from the "mistake" I made" And They replyed with a "yes, you have a baby, but at what cost did you have her". I said "there is no cost to my daughter" and then said I was done. That was the last time I went to meeting.
