I'm afraid

Wow, where to begin? I guess I just need to let it all out. My sister is in pain and I don't know what to do to fix it. Saturday night she came into my room and told me her left arm was hurting and her fingers were numb this had happened twice before but went away almost right away. Sunday morning rolls around and we go to the market, I noticed as we left the house that her hair was messy and if you know my sister this will strike you as odd because she always does her hair. We are in the market and I ask her to get something and she says "I can't" so I ask her why she can't and she says that she can't move her left hand and her right hand hurts, I take out my phone and call her doctor, I am told he will call me on Monday and I'm praying that she will be okay by then and we won't need to see him.

Monday morning, she comes into my room in tears because she can't brush her hair, her hand is worse. We go to her doctor that morning and he has no idea what it is, he gives her meds for the pain and tells me to call back the next day if she is not better.

Tuesday, she gets the feeling back on her left arm but not on her right hand, I call her doctor and he sounds worried, he tells me to give it another day and he will try and get her in to see a neurologist, it is now Thursday the neurologist will see her on Tuesday but she is still in pain, I called her doctor and he said we should take her to the ER tonight. I am worried, I have no idea what's wrong and I don't know what to do to make her better. She is only 13, she came into my room a few nights ago and asked me "Lola am I going to die?" I told her she would be okay but I can't sleep at night because I know something is wrong.

She has been ill before, she had heart surgery when she was five. I have always been able to tell her what was wrong and what the doctors would do to make it better. I lost count of all the times I have been to the ER with her holding her hand and telling her everything would be alright, tonight I will have to do that again and I really hope that everything will be okay.

Hello, I do hope that your sister will be ok. I will keep her in my prayers. May I ask what type of heart surgery your sister underwent? I am not trying to be nosy, but I am curious since I am in a similar situation with my daughter.

    Oh lola,

This is serious! Take her to the ER right away. Why did you have to wait so long to see someone?! I'll keep you in my prayers.

I am sorry to hear about your sister and her being ill.

It is always really hard to care for a family member during an illness.

It sounds like it might be mini strokes, but that is unusual in a young person.

I wouldn't hesitate, taking her to the hospital emergency room would be my first move.

My daughter is fifteen. If she had these symptons, coupled with the medical history you state, I'd insist on tests ASAP. Sending her home would not be an option.

It sounds serious for such a young girl.

I'm surprised her doctor hasn't had her admitted to run some tests, knowing her medical history.

You sound as if you are her legal guardian. If so, I'd press her doctor to have her admitted.

    Maybe SCULLY could comment.

I thought of a stroke or a mass. But I'm trying not to scare you lola. So please go to the ER.
