This same elder, who let his daughters fornicate all over the Inland Northwest, publicly reproved my then 12 year old brother for stealing a pack of cigarettes. And I kid you not, that experience has affected him to this day. He was never the same. They put him through the ringer for normal kid stuff.

Did You See "Coverups" In The Congregation?
by minimus ini did many times.
if a family member was well connected, things would be swept under the carpet.
but if you didn't know the right people, you'd be taken into the "back room" and the elders would grill you.

Santa & Kids - To Lie or Not To Lie?
by sweet pea inthis will be our second christmas since leaving the wts but we will be away in nz with besty's extended family so probably won't bother much with trees and decorations but the santa issue is playing on my mind, especially now podlet no.
1 is at preschool.. do we bring the children up to believe in santa & co with all the magic, mystery and excitement associated with the fairytale or do we tell him right away what the deal is - either route is going to feel very strange.
my gut feeling is to go along with the myth and give them those happy memories of wonder and anticipation - what do you all think?.

I think its not so much lying as storytelling. Kids are only kids for a bit..why not have some fun with it...my girls bought right into it...on their own pretty much...just from hearig about Santa etc...so I play along. My oldest is just thrilled with the idea, and I love it..

I am not a big time drinker...but now I am pregnant (yes, again) and I do miss the occasional glass of wine at the end of a stressful day. Sometimes you just need something to unwind, and tea just aint cutting it.

We had this big time elder that had 4 girls. They were the skankiest sleaziest girls around...openly so, and never even a slap on the wrist. It was just ignored. One of the girls ran away with her boyfriend for a while, then came back and started pioneering. The other ones just slept with whoever, whenever. Everyone knew, everyone told on them, but nothing ever happened.

We do the more volume less frequency thing. But then I have to spend forever each day hand watering my hanging and potted plants and garden. But its worth the loveliness. This is the first year I have really got a hang of gardening. It takes alot of work though!

When I got married, I definitely DID NOT consider my husband my soulmate. He just didn't fit into the picture of soulmate-ness I had in my mind. We basically were friends who had too much wine, got prego, than tried to make it work and got married! We had a TERRIBLE first year. We were not compatible at all. Now, three years of marriage later (we have been friends for 10 years), I could not imagine more of a soulmate. We totally "get" each other. Our sense of humor has met in the middle and we laugh all the time. We have come up with some common hobbies and intrests that we really enjoy sharing. We love our children more than anything in the world and we have made a wonderful life together. I could not ask for more in a partner. So having a soulmate is possible, you just might have to work to get it!
