wow.. so, you know i'm an active witness, very active.
hah.
and i'm not laughing at y'all, but wow, i can't believe how extensive this is.
Welcome Darcy! Like you, there are some very intelligent people here. Keep on reading! One of my greatest passions is learning, and there is so much info here that it's a great feed for the mind. I hope you stick around.
What do you make of it?
What *I* think is that you're more open-minded and independent-thinking than the average JW. A great thing to be.

ok, first off, let me make it clear that i'm no baptized jehovah's witness.
i studied for about 2 1/2 years, and was a publisher for about half the time.
i don't attend meetings, because..well.... i haven't yet summoned enough courage to ask forgiveness for my many wrong-doings.
I truly adhere to the No-Blood doctrine. (even though I don't adhere to much else at the moment)I'm not sure I understand why you're adhering to some of the JW doctrine, but not all. Why worry about getting a bit of blood if there are other things you allude to doing that may be mocking Jah. Just a thought.
But, to address your question -- what the others have said. You don't need a "blood card" from the JW to make your medical wishes known. Contact your attorney, or do a google for a 'make your own' POA/living will document. Two witnesses or a notary to sign it and you're set. And yes, if you want it enforced in an emergency, keep it with you -- next to your driver's license; it's the first place paramedics and medical personnel look when you're in that situation.
I know the JW version of the card has a lot of "yes this fraction, no not that fraction" and treatment choices that JW are encouraged to "research" in order to make a decision. http://www.ajwrb.org has much info on fractions etc. I encourage you to start your research there.

Apparently I'm invited to the DC in Lincoln, NE June 30 - July 2nd. There was an invitation in my door when I got home from work.
I fed it to the shredder.
I've only been out 3 months. Whatever.

here's a virtual meeting to show someone what a jw meeting is like without the "love bombing", but all the jehoba this, and jehoba that, prayers, horrible out of tune mono-tone singing?, and a visit from the co giving the dedication talk/prayer... .
the co point's out that a kingdumb hall is only a kingdumb hall if there is a sign out in front stating so... and that if the kingdumb hall was sold it doesn't come with the sign...
(wtf?
I got 6 min and 50 seconds into it and started feelin a bit upchucky...

here it was memorial day morning, and i'm out in the front yard watering the gardens when i hear a car pulling up the driveway.
it pulls into our section of the drive and i see it's a witness couple i know in the front seat.
the wife is driving and they spot me right off.
I see them! Very beautiful gardens.
i say it's "examining the scriptures daily.
" any thoughts on this?.

Nah, not really... But I suppose it depends how much effort a good dub puts into "studying" it. We would just read thru it and that was it. (I think it's still turned to somewhere in February, back when I was trying to give a crap yet). Some will ask questions, or do extra Research(tm) etc, so I suppose the DT is what you make it.
As far as "fellowship" being the best indoctrination tool, I will have to say that this "fellowship" is one of the main reasons I left....
My own opinion is that the TMS/SM is the strongest meeting for "selling" and beating us over the head for not doing enough, but throwing a kind, loving scrip or idea at us to soften the blow and make us feel like we WANT to do more... blah blah. Strongest brain-washing meeting, IMO.

i've been working at the same hospital since 1991. a jw chick is hired this past january.
the hospital friends have been and are my support system as well as my 'team'.. a nurse friend played stupid last week and talked to the jw girl.
the jw asked her what religion she was.
Thanks Scully!!
**gathering the balls to send it** I know it needs done -- like you and others have said, if I don't nip it now, what's to stop her from doing this again. The hospital we work at is quite small (350 employees) so we all know one another (and each others' kids, pets, cars... ya get the picture). I know who my friends are, and I know that they could really give less than a crap about this girl and she will eventually bury her own reputation by her religious weirdness. But -- the point is that if the situation was reversed and I was telling her workmates/friends about HER dirt, then I'm sure she'd have a fit, call down HR on me and whine "persecution" to the elders blah blah.
I think I've just talked myself into hitting "print" and licking an envelope.
Thanks much for your help

a shameless spinoff of the tattoo thread i admit, but i didn't want to hijack it.
what piercings were "allowed" and not allowed in your area, what have you got, when did you get it, and what do you think of piercings now that you are no longer a jw?.
where i lived the rule was no piercings at all for men with no exceptions.
Hey Es! I've heard that if you want to keep the bb pierce open, put that weedeater line through it.... Not sure how well it would work, but anyways... thought I"d throw that out at ya.
