a friend of mine is trying the 'slow fade' like i did.

After talking to his Uncle my friend got to doing some deep thinking. I myself did not attend any assembly but he did. I am 59 years old and he is 54 and so we have been around this religion for a long time. He came to me the other day (after having attended the Regional Convention) and said: "Sparky, I can't believe this religion any more. It's not the religion we were taught as kids. Anthony Morris gave a talk at the assembly and said, 'there have been many changes in the Organization in recent years. If you don't like them take it up with the driver of the chariot'. I think that the Governing Body is trying to steamroll over any of the 'old timers' that don't happen to agree with all these revisions in the religion. Then once we are dead and gone they can have their 'new and improved' version of Jehovah's Witnesses."

After thinking about my friends comment I began to reflect back on my old congregation. In 1974, before I went to Bethel, my old congregation had around 65 publishers. 14 members of that original congregation are dead. 18 members of that original congregation have 'turned apostate', disassociated themselves or 'faded away'. ( I may have missed someone but this is all I can recall)

At any rate, my question is: How many publishers do you think are still active or alive from the pre-1975 era?

Typical "Blame the victim" response from any Body of Elders. That is how they REALLY work. Protect "MOTHERS" reputation first and then protect "MOTHERS" representitives (the ELDERS) at all costs second. This is an old and sad story. In the early 1950's Fred Franz gave a talk at the International Conventions on Disfellowshipping and keeping the Organization clean. He said 'LOOK for and root out sin in your congregations. Get rid of it in order to keep Jehovahs Organization clean!' It's hard when you are an ELDERand have an IQ of 85 or less to think on your own. Why bother to think........."MOTHER" will do your thinking for you!

I can't give you any suggestions on how to avoid them, but I can give you some definitions in order to try to identify them:

Jehovah is in BIG trouble! Apparently Jehovah doesn't read HIS own publications put out by "The Faithful and Discreet Slave" before he decides to take action. He better be careful. "The viable embryo in the uterus is a human individual, and therefore destroying it, is a violation of the sixth commandment."-The Bible and Modern Medicine, 1963 p. 176 as quoted in the INSIGHT on the SCRIPTURES volume 1 page 28 under the heading ABORTION.

i sent my dad the fred franz talk "my story" when he somewhat candidly discusses the failed prophecies, 1925 etc.

i was hoping it would plant a seed of doubt in his heart.

however my parents eat sleep and breathe wt.

"You can FEEL how unstoppable Jehovah's Kingdom is." If that statement wasn't so sad I would burst out laughing! In 1974 when I was pioneering before I went to BETHEL I made a similar comment to my mother. We were talking out in service one day and I said to her,'You know mum, Armageddon will be here any day. Things can't get any worse! I can FEEL it!' My mother died in the year 2000 still expecting Armageddon to come while she was on her death bed. I am 59 years old and was told I would never get into Jr. High School, High School, etc., etc.........................and on and on and on and on.

Ha ha!!! I have no credentials either! You and I are just two dilettantes sparring across keyboards. Please don't take offense but your last reply to me was dreadful. It was just a more verbose rehash of your previous posts and a self justification of things you said. I am 59 years old and you remind me of MYSELF when I was your age. You are a smart young man( I hope you are a man, if you are a woman I apologize for being sexist) and you will develop your critical thinking skills more sharply over time. This is constructive criticism and not meant to attack you personally, so please keep your emotions and your judgements in check.:) It appears to me that your mind is still stuck in 'Watchtower logic' (I think that is an oxymoron but I believe that the phenomenon exists) and as you expand your horizons you will develop a more practical empirically based way to organize your thoughts and arguments.

That being said, I want to 'overstimulate' your intellect and prod you some more. (Sorry! I'm not doing this to be a jerk...just trying to make you think outside the box.)

For the sake of argument I will agree that kaw-naw', kan-naw' and kan-no have basically the same meaning. Agreed?

I am going to quote you directly now and I hope that you will take this in the spirit it is intended....not to attack you but to help you use your own words in drawing a logical conclusion. Here goes:

The Watchtower society cannot have it both ways. If they make the claim that 'old word choices were indeed confusing' and feel that it is necessary to change the word jealousy in one place in the scriptures in order to make it more understanable and more easily translated into other languages and that basically kan-naw', kaw-naw' and kan-no have the same meaning then they must make the same changes to the word jealousy elsewhere in scripture. They are still using the word jealous in regards to human beings but they have transmogrified the word into the phrase "requiring exclusive devotion" when referring to Jehovah. Hence the title of my post:A Kindlier More Gentle Jehovah?

Before I answer your post Apognophos I would like to ask you a serious and honest question. I have NO ulterior motive in asking you this so I hope you will not take offense at my question. What are your advanced education credentials? Do you have any degrees in linguistics, philosophy, logic, rhetoric,philology, ancient Hebrew, ancient Greek, or any other type of degree?
