Poor old Freddie Franz! The Governing Body 2.0 is ripping to shreds the religion that took him decades to craft.

My problem with Original Sin
by leftbelow ini found this quote in a book i was reading and it struck me this is why original sin is a problem for me.. damnation is the start of your morality, destruction is its purpose, means and end.
your code begins by damning man as evil, then demands that he practice a good which it defines as impossible for him to practice.
it demands, as his first proof of virtue, that he accept his own depravity without proof.

Doug Mason,
Not wanting to be confusing about this subject, I was merely quoting the scripture that most 'so-called' Christians use to 'prove' the doctrine of original sin. Since I consider myself 'boderline agnostic' I don't look to the Bible as a final authority on the human condition or the future of humanity. I never looked to see which Psalmist wrote this and so I don't really know. Some Jewish scholars do indeed teach that there is no such thing as original sin and that the Hebrew scriptures contain no such doctrine. However, there is no hard and fast agreement that St. Augustine coined the phrase or created the doctrine of original sin. Perhaps this website will be of interest to you. I don't know how reliable it is but it adds to the discussion. http://unamsanctamcatholicam.blogspot.com/2011/10/st-augustine-did-not-invent-original.html

Nice video........concise and to the point. The Governing Body of Jehovahs Witnesses mislead the rank and file on the meaning of this scripture. It is nothing more than King Solomon relating to his son the advice that was given to him by his father, King David on how to lead a good and moral life. Start at chapter 4 verse 3 : I was a true son to my father And the one especially loved by my mother. 4. He taught me and said: "May your heart hold fast to my words........................" And so it goes on and on as Solomon shares the wisdom of his father David with his own son. Nothing more and nothing less.

"Look! I was born guilty of error, And my mother conceived me in sin." Psalms 51:5 NWT Revised 2013
I think the Psalmist beat Augustine to the 'punch'.

LET'S HELP JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES TO LOVE APOSTATES
by Terry insimple application of logic to scripture interpretation:.
if two terms mean the same thing it should not change the meaning to exchange one word for the other.. first, jesus lays the foundation for us.
let us read.. luke 6:27-37 "but i say to you who are listening, continue to love your enemies , to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you.

"The second is this, 'You must love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.' " - Mark 12:31 NWT Revised 2013
Maybe someone needs to teach each Jehovahs Witness to have real, honest, pure and unhypocritical love for themselves as human beings and not the self loathing, false humility that they are taught by the Governing Body. If Jehovahs Witnesses really loved themselves as people they would find it second nature to love others.

does the wt always carefully phrase sentences so as to never take blame?
by sowhatnow inim recalling a time when i sat and circled words in a watchtower article, indicating strongly the fact that it is in fact the writters opinion.. however just the suggestion in the sentence these words are ignored.. for example.
it is our understanding.
we believe this to be the case.

Terry........THANK YOU for posting that quote from the 1943 Watchtower. I have been searching for that since 1977. I read the quote myself directly from the Watchtower when I was a Bethelite in the mid 70's and it turned my stomach to recognize the HUBRIS of the writer of that article. A human being made up those requirements and a human being put them down in writing. Nothing more and nothing less. "He says in the requirements................." (Who in the flying fu@k did HE say these requirements to? Come out, come out wherever you are!)
