that being the case i wonder how others would rank amd rate their confidence in various factual statements about the world.
i am going to rate my confidence in ten items of "knowledge" as a percentage.

A paradox or a contradiction? Titus 1:12

too was lying, but if this cretan was lying when he said cretans always lie,.
then cretans do not always lie and there is a lie in the scripture.

This of course is nothing more than the Apostle Paul "quote mining" in order to prove his own bias and to 'glorify' Jehovah's name and to push his own brand of religion. Exactly what the Watchtower Society does today when it cherry picks 'quotes' of scientists and scholars that seem to support the Societies own viewpoint. This quote is taken from a poem by Epimenides (See Wikipedia for a fuller biography) who wrote in defense of his god Zeus:
"They fashioned a tomb for thee, O holy and high one
The Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies!
But thou art not dead: thou livest and abidest forever,
For in thee we live and move and have our being."
The Apostle Paul was quoting from a religious poem that glorified Zeus and was putting down the Cretans for not believing in him. Probably not a very good source of evidence for the 'Christian' Apostle Paul to use in describing the character and state of honesty of every person in Crete.

they do that thing where they focus on one part so as to distract from the fact that they are doing the exact same thing with another part.. for example, in his talk featuring the new understanding of the "man with the secretary's inkhorn," geoffrey jackson goes on to say:.

London Bethelites Living on Their Nerves?

a bethel couple told my source that they are getting rid of about 20/25 bethelites every week and that if they are to go, they will get called in on a friday and given their leaving date.everyone is "on edge" and hoping that if they get the boot, they've got time to make alternative plans.. perhaps bethelites everywhere should apply this scripture, by looking for a job and accommodation now - and then just resign from their "vow of poverty" without giving advance warning.
(proverbs 22:3) "the shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself, but the inexperienced keep right on going and suffer the consequences.".

Ahhhhhh....stuckinarut2, I think you could strike a nerve with poor "Mother"! "It would be funny if the VALUABLE ones left of their own accord." I saw this with my own eyes in the 1976 'setting aside the 4 year plus vow' if you wanted to no longer be a Bethelite. Many real and genuine Christians just up and left because they had no interest in Bethel service anymore. I don't think "Mother" will make that mistake again. "Mother" can be a real bitch. If you leave of your own accord she feels slighted and powerless, but if she 'terminates your service' , she feels powerful and controlling. Remember "Mothers" love, Billy? -

I was a Bethelite in the United States in the 1970's and here is the standard request made to incoming Bethelites in those days. In 1976 I left and eventually bought into a small business where I was working. If I had fallen for this foolishness I would be 60 years old and broke! In early 1976 I was taking an older gentleman and his wife on tour at Watchtower Farms. He came right out and told me that he was a Bethelite in the 1940's and not to put too much stock in what the leaders preach. He said that in the 40's they were telling the Bethel family over and over that Armageddon was imminent. 'You will never have much of a life if you listen to everything that they say.', was his advice. I wish I could thank him for that fatherly wisdom, but I never found out his name or where he was from and he has probably long ago passed away. -

if i was a jw today i would wonder what are all the lies these people are saying.. and i would try defending their truth on these sites, but in each case those that come here.
