What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

Two things that I thought were silly:
1. At Bethel when I was a newboy, I left a few scraps of food on my plate. I got an ass chewing from the table head
that I must scrape my plate clean and eat every morsel of food on my plate. My Grandmother would have rolled over in her grave. She taught me that it was bad manners to scrape your plate clean because it made you look like a pig.
2. I had very curly hair and when I was a young Pioneer in the early seventies and I was counseled by the Circuit Overseer. He told me that my hair was too curly and that I should get a haircut, keep it short and use Brylcreem to keep it looking neat.

Ed Kostacheck...........my table 'foot' at Watchtower farms and John Janney was the table 'Head'
Fred Hilmo...boy did he get the shaft. Relegated to cleaning typewriters and graphotype machines at the Farm. As lurker pointed out, he was 'demoted' to doing only menial tasks at the Farm. Nice meek and mild gentleman. Kind of eccentric and still brainwashed in the cults theology. He talked to me once about the 'scientific' CREATION book (Rutherford's wacky tome) and how it was way ahead of its time.
One guy no one seems to mention much is Phil Wilcox. He wound up being the Factory Overseer at Watchtower Farms. At the risk of being demonized by other ex-Bethelites here, I want to say that this guy was like an older brother to me. He knew how I felt about the Organization, it's theology and the 'political bullshit' in general, yet he still respected me and treated me with dignity. I will never have a bad word to say about him. Spending time talking with Phil was one of the real highlights of my time at Bethel.

Chapter 1 My Bethel Experience First Posted 9 Years Ago A Walk Down Memory Lane
by new boy inpart 1. i when to bethel march 21,1970. at the time you had to be a pioneer for two years to apply, by the time i left in 1974 they were calling people in who had never pioneered..........average stay was 5 months (they had signed up for 4 years)..........the reason they left was......well, it was hell.. one of the reasons was, knorr hated bethelites, but he loved the gilead students and why?
because when they screwed up they were thousands of miles away!........just before i got there, they had kicked out over 30!
homosexuals (at one time) ....the would kick out 1-2 bethelites a week.

Well, the Governing Body(tm) LOVES to use the word HISTORIC in describing the banal minutiae of the everyday goings on in their religion known as Jehovah's Witnesses. At least now, Satan and his system recognize the HISTORIC significance of the everyday actions of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The story of my exit
by mrsObfuscate ini have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.
i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .
my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.

I hope they have enough cash on hand to purchase the new 'double screen' video setup now required by the "Governing Body' (tm) for all Kingdom Halls. Morris and Lett can only be appreciated fully in the new Watchtower(tm) sanctioned 'STEREOPTICON' video system. Now you can see both ASSES....I mean donkeys in visual stereo!

Governing Body Letter details things that "have never been done before." - Really?
by cappytan in[note: copy/pasted this with permission from reddit.].
once each year, the governing body writes a direct letter to the congregation members included in the yearbook.
in his annual message to the catholic faithful (urbi et orbi) delivered on christmas day, the pope spoke about world peace, terrorism, and the refugee crisis.

Adult Homework and Extra Credit
by lovesjehovah init seems that once we became sensible adult humans, we lost our way.
we stopped asking questions.
we submitted to the bidding of the world.

By the age of 15 years old, all students should be taught two distinct ways of viewing their lives:
1. Mindfulness meditation. The student would learn how to remain centered in their body and learn the difference between THOUGHTS, FEELINGS and SENSATIONS. By establishing a relationship with themselves through mindfulness meditation, they can learn to be 'comfortable in their own skin' and accept the oneness of their body and mind. That way they are prepared to 'face the world' on their terms.
2. Inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, logic, rhetoric, scientific method and dialectics should be fully integrated into the curriculum of any school system. If the student can learn to think and reason through these methods they will be able to 'face the world' on its terms.
