  1974 Special Meetings

  as we all know, armageddon was just around the corner in 1974. at the district conventions that year, it was announced that there would be two special meetings during the month of september; one would be for interested people (e.g., bible studies, family members, inactive, etc.

  ), and the other would be for baptized publishers.

  these were to be held in place of the service meetings for the two weeks, iirc.

  Pete and Painted.....you are not alone. I suspect that there are a large proportion in our age group ( 50+ years old) that suffer from the ill effects of this 'psychological torture' masquerading as 'spiritual instruction'. Not only did we get force fed this crap at the meetings and assemblies but many of our parents had their own 'private versions' that they projected on us. One day my mentally unbalanced, spiritual giant, pioneer mother decided to take me for a ride and 'fill me in' on what awaited a little boy of 8 or 9 years old. I was told that if I saluted the flag at school, Jehovah sees me and he will destroy me in the fast approaching Armageddon. When, NOT IF, the governmental authorities take me away from my family during the persecution, I must remain firm. If I 'give in' and do something bad, Jehovah will destroy me and I will never see her or my brothers and sisters again! I feel sorry for and my heart goes out to each and every person (still inside or escaped from this religion) that was subjected to this mind torturing, soul wounding bullshit!

  When I was baptized on January 30, 1971 the 'organizational manual' at the time was YOUR WORD IS A LAMP TO MY FOOT. On page 103 under the chapter title, REPORTING YOUR FIELD MINISTRY, is printed the following: "So we request that all of Jehovah's witnesses make weekly reports to their congregation of what they have done by way of preaching the good news to others." I see no statement here indicating the voluntary reporting of time, such as: 'If you wish you may turn in time.........' or 'sometimes, some of Jehovah's witness turn in time to the Overseers........'. It seems pretty cut and dry to me. If you want to be considered one of Jehovah's Witnesses you WILL turn in a field service report because that is what is REQUIRED by the leaders of the Jehovah's Witnesses religion.

  today at work one of the clients that came in for advice was an elder and his wife.

  they must be having issues they need help with.

  this elder was the elder that told us not to go to a domestic violence shelter or not to go to the police when my daughter got a black eye.. am i bad because i smiled inside that they are having problems?.
