  Why are anniversaries allowed but not birthdays?

  the scripture quotes aside, i was always told that we don't celebrate birthdays because that is a celebration of the self, which has no place in jehovah's organization.

  then why celebrate anniversaries?

  anniversary celebrations are about the joining of two selves, isn't that twice as selfish?.

  It would be interesting to know how many people he voted to disfellowship while he was an Elder. The sick pig..........judging other people for banishment from the congregation while he was involved in the MOST HEINOUS crime of all.   i'm just wondering... how many people in the hall hearing this watchtower today would be having sexual fantasies?

  he said that the parents of df or inactive do not have right to help there child why not?

  his answer its above there pay grade.

  he also said another witness helped this young lady she was a sister so another person can help your child but you cannot he said let jehovah help them.audeince dead silent..

  just wanted to say hello, i have been visiting this site for a very long time and i feel like i know so many of you already, now you can get to know me but for now i'm fading so i cant give my complete story.

  i'm single but have "hardcore" siblings in the religion, thankfully i do have family who never expressed interest in the jws.

  i really checked out years ago from to much mental abuse and no recognition for all that i gave to this organization.

  What crime should elders report?

  so, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.

  how about criminal fraud if they come across it.

  assault on a congregant?.

  You ask a very thought provoking question Kramer. I don't have an answer or even an opinion, but it is an idea that is worth considering. After all, the Governing Body teaches the every day Witness that he must report to the Elders, as authority figures,every 'so called' sin that he observes his fellow congregants involved in. 'What's good for the goose, is good for the gander'. Certainly, 'civil crimes' should be dealt with by the appropriate 'authority figures' and not just by the Elders who are only 'spiritual and moral police and judges'.

  Yoga. Evil practice?

  as our fade continues, the wife and i have decided to take up "the forbidden practice of.......yoga"!!!!😱.

  i was quite skeptical at first but so far it has really de-stressed our life in quite a spectacular way!!

  not to mention the physical benefits.. anyone else try yoga or a similar discipline?

  The earliest reference to Yoga that I can find in the Watchtower Societies publications is in the February 18, 1942 CONSOLATION Magazine on page 30. Let the Fear Mongering begin! :

  "The Yogis of India, in order to make conditions easy for the demons, commence with exercises to stupefy the mind. They hold one object in the mind's eye from periods varying from a few seconds to days, according to adaptability. Then follow intense breathing exercises, and afterward extremely difficult and demonized exercises which twist the human body in terrible convulsive positions; and only a Satanic mind could conceive of thus dishonoring the body Jehovah gave.   Ahhhhhhh.........Candy Clark! I had such a crush on her when I was an adolescent boy. She had a bit part in one of my all time favorite movies: NIAGARA,NIAGARA. I pull out the old VCR tape and watch the movie once a year. Much of the movie was shot upstate New York near Watchtower Farms.
