  Yes this could be true. I have found mistakes in different census years in regard to my mother. If the newspaper was incorrect, the Judge probably would have sued them because they had besmirched his 'good name'. Anything is possible and the newspaper could have made a mistake. Interestingly enough, at approximately the same time period, there was another Virginia Rutherford from Versailles, Missouri and her father's name was J. C. Rutherford! She was married to an A.L.   I'm with you all the way ILoveTTATT2. This particular clipping is from The Sedalia Democrat Wednesday, August 1, 1928 pg. 4. I'll keep digging and let you know what I find. It's interesting to note that he had two grandchildren. I wonder what they thought of Grampy's ranting and ravings on the radio?

  Jeffro...............you are in over your head. Just accept that and move on. I have examined lots of newspapers from that era online. J.F. Rutherford , the lawyer was some sort of local celebrity. The 'preponderance of evidence' suggests (notice that I didn't say proves) that more likely than not, ILoveTTATT2 is probably making a correct assumption.

  i'm taking a class, and we are learning about jws.

  my teacher is talking about a "big brown book" that is used for any questions or scriptures quoted by the person who jws are talking to.

  he used it in the context that if they don't know the answer off the top of their head, they look for the verse in this book.. what is the name of this book?.

  Good catch slimboyfat! That particular version is reddish maroon, but the older versions from 1930 until this version were shit brindle brown. You might be on to something.

  Yes Darkspilver...........sounds reasonable that this is the book he was talking about. Sort of dark maroon-brownish. Printed in 1973 I believe.
