When I was a Bethelite at Watchtower Farm, I did it all the time! I used to pee in the room sink when my roommate was not around.

Behind Closed Doors

behind closed doors my dad, an elder, was so emotionally abusive that as a child i once got out of bed to get a knife from the kitchen so i could stop the abuse once and for all.

i cried, and didn't go through with it.. behind closed doors, my next door neighbors, the family that "brought us into the truth" was yelling and screaming constantly.

he hit her once while we kids played out back.

Hanging out with JWs is exhausting!

not long ago, there was a funeral for a sister i haven’t know very much, so i did not attend.

however, some old “friends” i know drove down to town to assist and i ended up spending some time with them.

quite honestly, i was happy to see them again.

Yes it certainly is emotionally difficult to carry on a conversation with many Jehovah's Witnesses. You never really know which 'face' you are talking to.

busted by a gypsy__________________how do i know they are gypsy?i had some run-ins in l.a. many years back.

had they worn a banner it wouldn't have been more obvious.the patriarch wore a special hat with a silver spangled band.i've seen the old gypsy with his cane and his scowl.

he walks like a king or a panther at prowl.

how many times did you hear that gem?

it often went along with "the truth is a protection" which is their way of saying "living a moral life is good for you ... and you can't do that without us".. but think about what people are really saying.

i think the real message is "i know it's not the truth, but i chose to follow it anyway".. it seems like a pre-emptive argument because they know they can't defend it as "the truth" so instead they switch to defending it as a lifestyle.. of course any kind of lifestyle that has a decent moral ingredient to it, respect for law and order, discipline etc... probably increases people's chances of doing better in life, but they don't have a monopoly on it.. so just remember, next time you hear someone saying "even if it's not the truth" what they are really admitting is that they already know it isn't..

Reframed the statement can become:

"Even if it's a LIE, in my opinion it is the best way to live because it fits my needs, personal narrative and my perspective on the world and life in general."

OR

"I would rather live in a 'lying field' than face the truth in my life."

I have a 70 year old brother that has been disabled since he was a late aged teen. He can be obnoxious and rude to his family and friends. But he is also generous to a fault with his time and would be the first person to help anyone in need. Terry, I am appalled by your cavalier , 'no old obnoxious Gypsy cripple' is going to tell me what to do attitude. Please remember this: A few years ago, you had your bicycle stolen. Many posters here rallied to your aid and sent money to a go fund me type page. I for one sent a large donation to the site, knowing how much a new bicycle can cost. Next time you ride your bicycle to Starbucks, remember the generous people that made the trip possible and try to be 'generous' in your assessment of other humans and try to be cognizant of their 'needs' also.
