You gave great advice, fastJehu! I had something similar happen to me when I was a Bethelite back in 1976. I took an older gentleman and his small family on tour. At the end of the tour, he asked if he could give me some advice. I said sure. He told me that he was a Bethelite back in the late 30's and early 40's and that they were preaching Armageddon to the Bethel family 'any day now'. He figured out that it was a lot of hot air and left Bethel and established himself in a good job. He advised me to do the same. I followed his advice, eventually became a full partner in a business and semi-retired at 47 years old. In two years I will be fully retired and have an excellent Social Security benefit plus all my investments and cash. One of my very good friends from my Bethel days is coming up on 70 years old without a penny to his name because he chose to be a Circuit Overseer. (Which incidentally was the road I was supposed to take) Interestingly enough, he advised me against going into any type of business since it would just be destroyed in the soon to be coming Armageddon and I shouldn't waste my time on worldly pursuits. I hope that young Bethelite appreciates the time you took to help him 'see the light'. Kudos to you!

I first walked those tunnels on Saturday June 15, 1974 the day I arrived at Brooklyn as a 'New Boy'. In a few weeks it will have been 45 years ago. We ARE in the New System now, aren't we?

Lawyers for the insurance company had a 'watertight' defense:
"We certainly feel for the owners of the Ark. However, since the plaintiff could not produce 'two witnesses' to prove that the rain had caused a landslide and indeed 'molested' the road leading up to the Ark, we are unable to provide monetary compensation. Our hearts go out to all our clients that have been affected by rain and we 'abhor' any damage that rain may cause. Because of the confidential nature of our conversation between the Ark owners and our insurance agents we must claim 'client confidentiality' and will not produce any documents relating to our handling of this and other rain damage cases. The insuring agent is a private contractor and sells insurance for our company on a voluntary basis and in no way represents the parent company in a fiduciary nature. We ask that the court dismiss this case without prejudice."

'the meetings were put on Friday nights.' - blondie
Witness kids today don't realize how good they have it compared to when we were young. The Ministry school and Service meetings were held on Friday night and ran until 9:30 pm. We would get up on Saturday and go in field service until exactly 12:00 pm. The afternoon we had a breather. Then Sunday morning it was back out in field service until 12:00 pm , a quick lunch and then we had to get ready for the Public Talk and Watchtower Study at 3:00 pm. The Public Talk was an hour back then not including opening song, plus we had an intermission and then we had the Watchtower study which was at least an hour long not including songs. So that brought you up to at least 5:30 pm after which you went home for a quick supper, you did your homework and then went to bed so that you could have a fresh start to the week.

I have a 'funny' Nathan Knorr story:
It was absolutely forbidden for a single brother and a single sister at Bethel to be alone in a private room together without having the door wide open. When I was a Bethelite at Watchtower Farms, I had an interest in one of the single sisters there. So one Sunday morning, instead of going to the meeting this sister and I were in her room with the door closed. Nothing immoral going on mind you. We were going to go out to breakfast and take a morning ride and I was just waiting for her to finish getting ready. Who should walk in the room without knocking? Nathan Knorr himself. His brother-in-laws room was right next door and he entered the wrong room! His face was red as a beet and he apologized profusely and left the room. Maybe he was embarrassed that he should have been at the Sunday meeting but nothing ever came of it.

I used to watch The Wild, Wild West on TV. Of course, that was 52 years ago. And I was 12 years old.

Still dont get the friggin birthdays
by nowawake14 ini have read extensively about the origins of birthdays, and i still don't get it.
but it's not what it means today.. even wedding veils were used to ward off the "evil eye".
but it's not what it means today.

Ain't NEW LIGHT grand! If you were one of the Anointed Remnant and celebrated birthdays pre-1926 and died before that time, you were resurrected to immortal heavenly life to reign with Jesus Christ. Nowadays if you claim to be of the Anointed Remnant and celebrate someone's birthday you open yourself up to being disfellowshipped and losing out on immortality. Makes perfect sense to me.

Do You Support a Sex Strike?
by minimus inalyssa milano is saying that women have to go on a sex strike to take control of their bodies.
what do you think about this?.

It doesn't appear that a sex strike would affect this enterprising Bethelite...whether it involves Alyssa Milano or not!
