Don't be too hard on yourself, Van. Perhaps your enthusiasm to show them the error of their ways mutated into anger when you found them to be not even the slightest bit receptive? Although I don't share your 'Christian/religious worldview' , I have always found you to be dignified and kind when sharing your ideas here and I respect you very much. Forgive yourself for an indiscretion, learn from your son and move on. "In any given moment, there is more right with you than wrong with you" - Jon Kabat-Zinn

"Of course child abusers are not true jws, because I think those would never do this." - AshleyCollins
Say this out loud a few times and then think about it:
"Of course child abusers are not true Catholics, because I think those would never do this."
The Catholic Church has a child abuse issue and Jehovah's Witnesses have a child abuse issue. Both are equally culpable before their god and the state.

I spend between $1,500.00 and $2,000.00 a year gambling. All my bills are current and some are even prepaid. No religious council has the right to tell me how to spend my discretionary funds. Anyway, I do it for fun but view it as an investment.

If You Criticize A Person of Color Are You A Racist?
by minimus inseriously, it’s getting to a point that you can’t make a negative comment about someone without being charged as a racist, homophobe or sexist!
if you criticize a female, you are obviously sexist.
if you criticize someone who happens to be gay, you must hate homosexuals.

I don't like Donald Trump one bit. And since I have never met the man, it would be incorrect of me to categorically say that he is a racist just because the news media prefers to paint him as such. Donald Trump treats anyone who disagrees with him with disdain, disrespect, derision, disparagement and disgust. He is an 'equal opportunity' insulter. Just ask Joe Biden, Jeb Bush, John McCain, Bill Clinton, Chuck Todd, Adam Schiff, Mitt Romney, Jeff Sessions and on and on...All of them are White Anglo-Saxons. (Of course, you can't ask John McCain)Yet no one seems to accuse Donald Trump of being prejudicial against the White race. I'm not defending President Trump, just pointing out that I don't think he is necessarily prejudiced against any particular race.

Jesus...Keith! One 'good' thing that we all had way back then as Bethelites was a certain level of comradery and male bonding. I miss my old 'war buddies' from my Bethel days. Imagine that a religion that once united us in a common purpose is now the cause of our estrangement from one another! The nostalgic feeling that I get from looking at that photo puts a lump in my throat and a twinge in my heart.

"Flight JW1914 now boarding at Gate 1975. All passengers agree to fly on Jehovah's Witnesses Airlines at their own expense and peril. Please leave a donation when you board and when you disembark. "I often ...nurture the little girl that was physically abused and forced to behave like a mini-adult." - 3rdgen
When I was in the fifth grade, Christmas was a big deal for my home room class. My mother never came to school to explain the holidays or the flag salute. My siblings and I were left to explain our 'Christian stand' as Jehovah's Witnesses by ourselves. I was so frightened and physically sick to explain about Christmas to the teacher that she took me outside into the hallway. She urged me to 'calm down, relax and don't worry'. 'You see', she said, 'we have something in common. I am Jewish and I don't have Christmas, either. Everything will be fine.' I knew if I didn't explain 'my stand' properly, my mother would slap me around and eventually, Jehovah would destroy me. To me, it seemed as though my teacher cared more for me than my own mother. Yes, I would say that many raised as 'mini-adult' Jehovah's Witnesses have deep psychological scars.
