Update....Not That Anyone Cares
by 1234 inthis isn't a poor me thread.....just what is going on here in my small world.. since both my son and me own tour companies, when the lock down happened three weeks ago our businesses literally died over night.
we both depended on the tourist that come to phoenix and sedona, so that all went away as people stop taking vacations.
all future tours have been cancelled.. my son moved in with me two days ago, much to chagrin of his jehovah's witness mother.

George Couch was THE Home Servant and also had charge of Watchtower Farms. Albert Schroeder was a Gilead instructor (perhaps that is who you are thinking of).

1973 DIVINE VICTORY ASSEMBLY
"Recognize any names?" - Petra!
I most certainly do!
R. Franz, A. Schroeder, V. Wisegarver : Bethel heavies one and all who I never met personally or had any interactions with during my Bethel career.
A. Flowers : Bag of wind, bullshit artist in love with his own mirror image. Company man to the core. When I left Watchtower Farms he asked me : 'So will you become a Jehovah's Witness after you leave here?!' His only claim to fame was that he married a much younger woman.
Phil Wilcox : Very nice, down to earth man. He is a Bethel heavy. Treated me like a younger brother. Told me when I left : 'Sparky, you got some bad breaks here at Bethel and I am sorry that things turned out for you the way they did. Why don't you go ahead and leave, take some time to think about your life, get married and come back to Bethel. If that is what you want, don't reapply through the normal channels. Call me and I will get you back in.' One of the finest, most non-judgmental men I have ever met!
George Couch : Here is Sparky's original bete noire! Interestingly enough, I first met ole Georgie boy at a meeting for those interested in Bethel service at a District Assembly. We had a long conversation together...just we two! (How sweet! ) When it was over, he ripped me a new asshole and called me arrogant and smug. I wish I had the guts to return the favor but he got his comeuppance when the Governing Body took more control of Bethel operations. Grifting Georgie Boy soon learned his place when Nathan Knorr could no longer cover for him.
Ah! The memories! Some good, most bad.

Why Did Obama win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009?
by JW_Researcher inwhile even non-peaceful people have been awarded the peace prize (e.g.
arafat, kissinger), i am confused as to how obama could possibly have won the award one year after being the first term junior senator from illinois with zero “peace” experience (other than his ‘well-articulated’ rhetoric)..
reading the obama-pining on a couple of posts made me reexamine my view of barry’s presidency..

Yes Kramer, I believe that you are correct. When I was a Bethelite back in the 1970's it was well known that WATCHTOWER was a big customer of Chase Manhattan Bank and Chemical Bank. In the 1990's Chase and Chemical merged. In the year 2000, the Chase Corporation then merged with J.P. Morgan. So it is probably the case that WATCHTOWER is just a faithful long time customer of the J.P. Morgan/Chase banking company and conducting business as usual. Nothing sinister to see here folks...just move along.

Do You Support Police and Law Enforcement?
by minimus inrecently black lives matter representatives have encouraged people to spit in law enforcement officials foods.
some people are going into police stations and trying to kill innocent officers.
federal officials are marked for death because they try to administer the law.. what is your opinion of this type of lawlessness?.

Why Does So Much Intellectual Innovation in the US Tend to Come from the East or West Coasts ???
by RubaDub inthere are many good universities in the central part of the us but why do so many innovative things, i.e.
silicon valley, seem to happen on one side of the country or the other (california, new york, massachusetts to name a few)?
even what is considered the most high tech area in the center of the country, austin texas, is a huge liberal bastion.

Here is an article that may give insight or at least shed some perspective on your question:

*WARNING SUICIDE RELATED POST
by Annamouse inbit of background: a couple of years ago i was reproved after i slept with a brother that i was in love with but we were not married.
in fairness, the elders were kind and supportive.
the problem is, i had always been the model witness before that.

Take heart, Annamouse. As you can see by the comments of blubberyk9, road to nowhere, Simon, MeanMrMustard and hybridous you are among people that support you. No need to feel guilty or dirty about your sexual experience or suicide attempt. We are all frail humans and find it a challenge to navigate along the road of life. The problem with most religions is that they put you in a double bind. They expect perfection from you in your conduct while driving it into your mind that you are a worthless sinner that is prone to do bad and can't get along in life without their guidance. One of my favorite quotes is from Jon Kabat-Zinn: "At any given time in your life, there is more right with you than wrong with you."
