Bethel and the deplorable state of the current Governing Body(tm) was prophesied in Amos 4:4 - "GO TO BETHEL AND SIN". That is my version of 'new light'. If they can take scriptures out of context and make 'shit' up, than so can I.!

Bethel should be considered bad
by dbq407 infrom what i was told, we don't celebrate birthdays because the only two times it is mentioned in the bible, bad things happened.
so if the wt wants to set standards by the "two bad things" rule, then why do they use the name bethel?
i've read two instances in the bible where bad things happened there.

3.) They didn't know about the pollution. This means, in essence, they are going to go into court and say "we're idiots and these bad people took advantage of us." This option might be the most entertaining.- JeffT
This is what my mind conjured up when I read JeffT's post:
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...........................A BAD KITTY JUST SHIT IN MY SANDBOX!!!!!! SOMEONE BETTER DO SOMETHING RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!

"The title search should have revealed the previous owners and the nature of their business, which should have been a red flag for environmental issues." - JeffT
Who did the title search? A home schooled newboy Bethelite? The Watchtower lawyers can't be that stupid or are they? At the slightest hint of possible pollution, Watchtower should have reconsidered their options for purchase. At the very least, they should have purchased some time of 'pollution insurance' or required the seller to purchase the insurance to cover any unforeseen difficulties with the property. It seems that the Governing Body(tm) and their team of helpers and legal experts operate from a very naïve and childlike world view.
"Pollution insurance can be a valuable risk management tool to limit potential environmental liability. It can supplement the traditional methods of allocating risk in a real estate transaction, including proper due diligence , representations and warranties, indemnifications, placing funds in escrow and reducing the purchase price. .... the parties my choose to purchase pollution insurance to transfer risk of certain liabilities to an independent third party insurer."-Gregg A. Nathanson, ESQ.
Maybe I am way off base . Are their any lawyers or commercial real estate experts posting here that can comment on this?

Merry Pantsmas Everyone!
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inokay, i posted this in a thread that got locked and buried.
since then i've been really busy and have overdosed on christmas music in the past week.
so, i'm resurrecting this "holy day" holiday that most people will unknowingly be celebrating tomorrow.

Youths planning for the future leaflet
by slimboyfat indoes anyone remember around the tear 2000, maybe just before or after, there was a leaflet released at the summer convention aimed at teenagers called something like, "planning for a worthwhile future"?
basically it argued that you shouldn't go to college or university and put your trust in "the world".
instead you should trust in jehovah, pioneer and reach out for bethel or missionary service.

I wonder, Steve2, what ever happened to John and Mary? If alive today, they would be in their 90's!

November Study WT "Train You Child to Love Going Door 2 Door"
by JW_Rogue inbeen catching up on some jw reading and found a gem in the november study wt in the first article, paragraph #11:.
yet, you might look beyond the obvious and ask yourself, does my child enjoy the ministry or only the breaks?
if you discern that the ministry could be more interesting or more rewarding for your children, set goals with them.
