I think I figured out their strategy with all the creepy videos

i came in during all the hype over 1975. the predictions about that date were the real driver behind all their activity.

since then, they haven't had a good goad to prod the sheep.

they seem to be smart enough not to try another date.. i think they plan to use fear instead.

the brother looks like he may be fijian in a traditional skirt standing in a river, doing a presentation on an apple ipad.

i can't imagine there are many families that can afford an ipad in the pacific islands.

Jehovah's Witnesses have Armageddon to keep their adherents in line.

If it's one thing that religions understand, it's that FEAR works every time!

RC Was Worse Than I thought...

i was visiting with my family and it seems the rc was worse than i thought.

now they all seem to think that "we are so close to the end" and that the "brothers are really preparing us for the gt".

some even saying that soon our message will change to a judgement message for mankind and talking about how we need to improve "everything we do".

in a discussion about the best flavour of ice cream everybody's opinion is equally valid.. in a discussion about the shape of the earth or the origin of species everybody's opinion is equally irrelevant.

only objective facts and evidence matter.. confusing these two categories is a common feature of conversations in this forum.

Lett facial ticks from a stroke/aneurysm?

i was speaking to my mom the other day.

she stays in the group to retain a relationship with the rest of our in family.

she told me that she heard from one of my brothers that the reason lett makes all those weird facial gestures has something to do with a stroke or aneurysm when he was a younger man.

Yeah, Lett probably had quite a few 'STROKES' when he was younger, when his parents weren't looking!

again, i'm a decade removed from the faith.

i'm catching up now, and can't believe what i'm seeing.. i get that jw leadership faced a dilemma.

there is no intellectual apparatus within the faith.

You are on to something, oldskool. Can you imagine Nathan Knorr announcing Caleb and Sophia as the new 'mascot' of the Jehovah's Witness religion in his concluding comments at the end of an 'International Convention'?

are they only some uber religious zealots or do they pursue hidden agendas beyond religiosity?.

The Governing Body (tm) is composed of god intoxicated, religious zealots who have no hidden agenda, per se. They are self-deluded humans who think that they are carrying out the will of god on earth and feel that they have a 'commission' from god to 'govern' other human beings and thereby save their souls from eternal destruction. Remember that 'most of the evil committed in the world is by people that KNOW that they are right'.
