  now the majority of people nowadays do no go by the hope of old times.

  now the reason for this is important and goes beyond mere words.

  our culture sees ethics especially national or civil politics as the rules and standards by which we guide ourselves.

  spoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.

  she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.

  this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

  When I still associated 20 years ago (because of family and friends) I faithfully donated between $1,200.00 and $2,400.00 a year (don't ask me why....residual guilt, I think). Half to the local congregation and half to the Worldwide Work. If only 10,000 disgruntled Witnesses stopped donating the minimum of what I did, it would total $12,000,000.00 a year less in their greedy hands. Maybe that is why they are begging for money constantly........the silent disillusioned majority are beginning to vote!

  Why are anniversaries allowed but not birthdays?

  the scripture quotes aside, i was always told that we don't celebrate birthdays because that is a celebration of the self, which has no place in jehovah's organization.

  then why celebrate anniversaries?

  anniversary celebrations are about the joining of two selves, isn't that twice as selfish?.

  It would be interesting to know how many people he voted to disfellowship while he was an Elder. The sick pig..........judging other people for banishment from the congregation while he was involved in the MOST HEINOUS crime of all.   he said that the parents of df or inactive do not have right to help there child why not?

  his answer its above there pay grade.

  he also said another witness helped this young lady she was a sister so another person can help your child but you cannot he said let jehovah help them.audeince dead silent..

  just wanted to say hello, i have been visiting this site for a very long time and i feel like i know so many of you already, now you can get to know me but for now i'm fading so i cant give my complete story.

  i'm single but have "hardcore" siblings in the religion, thankfully i do have family who never expressed interest in the jws.

  i really checked out years ago from to much mental abuse and no recognition for all that i gave to this organization.

  What crime should elders report?

  so, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.

  how about criminal fraud if they come across it.

  assault on a congregant?.

  You ask a very thought provoking question Kramer. I don't have an answer or even an opinion, but it is an idea that is worth considering. After all, the Governing Body teaches the every day Witness that he must report to the Elders, as authority figures,every 'so called' sin that he observes his fellow congregants involved in. 'What's good for the goose, is good for the gander'. Certainly, 'civil crimes' should be dealt with by the appropriate 'authority figures' and not just by the Elders who are only 'spiritual and moral police and judges'.

  Yoga. Evil practice?

  as our fade continues, the wife and i have decided to take up "the forbidden practice of.......yoga"!!!!😱.

  i was quite skeptical at first but so far it has really de-stressed our life in quite a spectacular way!!

  not to mention the physical benefits.. anyone else try yoga or a similar discipline?
