John Booth, Harlan Mathis, George Couch and Nathan Knorr must be spinning in their graves. What's next? Christmas decorations? This religion is struggling so hard to appear 'normal' that it is ridiculous!

Your donations at work: WT Farms “inspirational” corn maze
by betterdaze in“best life ever” is displayed at watchtower farms, near pine bush.
the jehovah’s witnesses' maze is a work of devotional art, and not intended for exploration like the pagan ones made for hudson valley tourists every halloween.

The wonder of scientific research
by amicabl inthis has possibly been brought up before however here goes.. constant reference is made by many posters to scientific research as being the only way to prove something factual that would otherwise have to be taken on faith.
there actually seems to be "faith" in scientific findings.. my experience over many years is that most scientific research is fake.
nothing oftencomes of the big announcements made to raise more money.. money, prestige, pride, human error, suppositions etc., are rife amongst the scientific community.. i realise that there have been many advances over hundreds of years but humankind is in a mess, although very different to even a century ago.. the medical profession now has vaccinations for everything, antiviral drugs etc.

Don't make the mistake of confusing 'pure' science with 'scientism'. Science is our friend because it helps us to understand the natural world. 'Scientism' is not always our friend because it tends to put unfounded trust in outcomes for things that can not really be deduced by the scientific method.

Dietary Quirks Among JWs
by millie210 ini recently had to accompany an older family member out of state to a family reunion.
it was a big reunion and not much was overtly made of the fact that i am "misguided" and not attending meetings (lost soul that i am) which was nice.
the thing i noticed that i was most struck by was all the dietary quirks in evidence during our 3 days together.

millie, I gave freddo a down vote on each of his posts because I considered them offensive and insensitive. -

Real gluten intolerance/celiac disease is not fun at all. Apparently, I have suffered from this malady my entire life. It was not until I was 40 years old that a doctor decided to test me for this. At 62, I still have to read every package of food and question waiters and waitresses each time I go to a restaurant to eat. Are there some Jehovah's Witnesses that claim to have this affliction but really don't? Absolutely. They self diagnose and that is good enough for them. Am I high strung? You're god damned right I'm high strung sometimes. Especially when some idiot waitress, waiter or chef doesn't take me seriously. You would be 'high strung' too if you shit your pants in public after eating something you weren't supposed to.

Strip off the old personality
by eyeuse2badub inyesterday’s watchtower talked about how by becoming a jw it enabled “worldly” people to ‘strip off the old personality’ and make really significantly good changes in their life.. paragraph named 4 individuals (anonymous names of course and probably embellished tales)) sakura, ribeiro, stephen, and hans.
their lives changed for the good because they found god or because they became jw’s---right?.
so on the way home from this wt meeting, my wife commented to me how wonderful our brotherhood is and how it helps people who would otherwise be ‘lost’ n this world.

My ex-business partner was into bi-sexual/wife/husband swapping big time. After he hit 'rock bottom', he 'found' Jesus and became a non denominational Evangelical. He 'witnesses' to me every time I see him. 'Jesus is my foundation and every day he builds me up brick by brick. I am not perfect, but the LORD is creating something wonderful in me.' He even co-leads marriage encounter workshops at his church.
I tend to agree with pale.emperor......some people just trade one addiction for another one.

The boys in Pennsylvania- The real power behind Watchtower
by UnshackleTheChains ini am quite interested in something mike and kim said in their video when talking about why their you tube videos are being taken down.
in their video below, at around 35 seconds.
mike say's that he has being trying to tell people that the boys in pennsylvania are the real power behind watchtower - not the governing body?.

UnshackleTheChains......thanks for respecting my opinion. Mike and Kim are creating a false narrative in their assumption that the 'boys in Pennsylvania' are some sort of 'power brokers' or money men behind the Governing Body. The reason that the Pennsylvania Corporation contacted YouTube is because most, if not all, of the Jehovah's Witnesses intellectual property is registered to Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania. You can confirm this yourself by logging on to JW.ORG and scrolling down to the bottom of the page. As for the Governing Body having a separate lunch with some of the members of the corporation, Mike and Kim are grasping at straws. There is preferential treatment in Jehovah's organization for long time members with positions. Sorry to be so blunt, but Mike and Kim trade in sensationalism! I know................I watch them myself sometimes! They are a real 'hoot' as long as you take what they say with a 'grain of salt'.

Oh dear.....it looks like a few feathers have been ruffled!!!!
Actually, I could give a rats ass what you want to believe. But spreading foolishness like this post only does a disservice to the ex-JW community. It validates current Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs that most so called 'apostates' are INDEED spreading lies and false information about their former religion.

Thank you, thank you, thank you............Fulano for shedding light on the foolishness that seems to get worse by the day. It's getting harder to carry on an intelligent discussion on this forum. But it does make for good entertainment!

How/when did you become a jehovas witness?
by Lewis1998 inso i've been a protestant for most of my life, it's how i was raised, but recently i started questioning my faith more and more and now i feel like my beliefs resemble that of a jehovas witness rather than a protestant.
i don't know any jehovas witnesses, so i was just wondering how a lot of you found the religion and adapted to it?.

"My brainwashed mother made a death threat to me by telling me that the generation that saw 1914 was getting old and if I didn't get baptized soon Jehovah god would have no choice but to execute me at Armageddon which was imminent." - hoser
Ha ha ha.........................my mother gave me the death threat in 1970. I was baptized soon thereafter. She had her own personal Armageddon when she died in 2000 never seeing a 'paradise earth'. Thank you, Jehovah for all the misery your organization has caused.
