Luna2 - no thank goodness. there is one crazy witness at my job. everyone finds her strange and for JW standards she is VERY strange. unfortunately people know I was raised a JW because I have never held back on that, so they come to me and say ... hey can you speak with so and so because she is ...... well i finally told the one chick listen if you have issues with Sista Freaky-Dek go talk to her because I am not going to but here is a scripture that should help you out and get her to leave you alone. well it worked out but now everyone thinks that i have the magic garlic to wear around the neck to make her stop the madness.

JWs and relationship immaturity?
by jstalin inmy jw friend seems to be unusually immature when it comes to relationships and women.
i don't think he's ever had a serious relationship with a woman (he's 23).
he uses the terms "womens" when he speaks about women, and he uses the word "boobies.

Highlander that doesn't make sense about men being chickified in the "truth". Considering a woman has NO say and is a second class citzen, why were you throw off by them. Listen growing up in my area if you were male and a JW it did not matter what you looked like, whether you were educated or not, or held a job, if you were a guy and a baptized JW the girls were all over you (well in as much as JW chicks can be over guys) because the pick'ns were slim. Baptized JW guys here in the States are like gold, rare because it is primarily filled with either old men who are already married or women/girls. That is why you see 50 year old men getting hitched to 22 year old girls and everyone is like "ohhh how sweet they found eachother." While the rest of us are like sorry its like the guy is loaded or attractive, so she is obviously desparate or her mother sold her for a bag of magic beans, I don't know.

John Doe: In the hopes to make you laugh. I have a funny, yet disturbing, work story to tell. I work in an large building in a big city. People take trains and buses to get to work every day. There is a woman that works in my office that lives outside the City, so she has to take the train to get in. Her round trip for the day averages 3 hours. This woman is heavy but not morbidly obese. She does have a bum leg because she was in an accident years ago and it still causes her problems. The problem with this is she classifies herself under ADA. So everything she does or does not do is "ADA" so no one will say anything to her because they are afraid that she will sue.
Ok - here is my funny story. So this woman works w/ me on projects from time to time. There was a week were we were in the boardroom for a week straight. Well I kept thinking do my feet smell, what is that smell. Because there was some mighty powerful funk going on. Fast forward a month, same thing have to work with her on a project and same thing, I am thinking, are those my pits, what is going on. Fast forward third time meeting with her on a project and I realize OMG it is not me it is her. So I start asking my friends do you that so and so is kind of smelly and they say hey, but everyone is afraid of what to do about it, so no one mentions it. Well about a month later I find out that I am going to be working on a huge project with this lady and we are going to be shoulder to shoulder for God knows how long. Well I could not take it. I went to HR and said listen, this chick smells and you guys know it, you need to say something to her. And they say well we don't feel it is out place and I say well it is if everyone refuses to work with her because they want to barf after being in contact with her for 5 minutes. And she also represents the firm and meets with clients, how do you think that makes us look. Ok, so they decide to talk to her. Now some how after their 3 minute conv. with her, she storms out of HR and comes over to me and says "DID YOU TELL THEM I SMELL!" I said yes I did because you do. She says to me I AM AN AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES I have severe allergies and I cannot use soap or chemicals because I will break out in a rash and stop breathing. She goes into this long laundry list of all her allergies including peanuts. So I point out to her that I find her story somewhat less then truthful because while working on all those projects with her, every day she had a SUPERSIZE Snikkers bar which has nuts in it. So I say in as a polite way as possible, I do believe that with living in the 21st Century you would be able to find hypoalergenic soap and laundry detergent. This is a classic her response was I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY SOAP OR DETERGENT. So really it is just laziness on her part because she does not want to be clean. Anyways long story short, I don't have to work with her any more, thank goodness.
But the best part was I realized it was not me that smelled, because that was mess'n with my mind there. I hope it all works out for you, it is a tough spot to be in.

Or alternatively he comes from an unhappy home with unhappy married parents, regardless of the religion, and is not quick to jump into a bad situation. It is zero to sixty in two seconds when it comes to dating and marriage for JW kids.
But I pretty much agree w/ Jekyll - sounds like the guy is just shy.

Actually it sounds like a guy who has been told you are all that and a bag of chips. I have no doubt he found his "spiritual sister" what other choice does she have.

LOL - guys you are all conspiracy theorists in your spare time or all the time, I cannot tell. I cannot tell you how many time the guy who runs our IT department goes over the loud speaker to tell us our server is down and surprisingly enough he never suspects it is the WTBTS or elders or JWs. I figured it was a server problem because that was the error message that popped up and not a picture of GB staring at me shaking a finger saying "naughty, naughty".

Probably most people would respond to any questions relating to tangible v. unseen/unknown as faith based. If you think about it there is much to religion or a belief system that is based on faith. So if you have faith that there is a greater power, you may actually feel that you have seen it at work in your life whereas an atheist would deny it as made up. People believe that the OT was inspired by God and thus it is a faith based belief.
Can any one person prove they are right? I doubt that. But don't you think it should be an individual choice, think because no one lives my life but me, so why should I believe what you believe, unless I buy into it. So to the person who has faith more power to them, to the person who does not believe for whatever reason, good for you. Have an informed opinion and stick to it!

The cancer has changed my wife
by outoftheorg inwe found out that she has pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver and blood vessels.
she opted for chemo.
although we have good insurance, we still have to pay quite a bit towards the $17000.00 bill every three weeks for treatment.

I am so sorry outoftheorg to hear of your current family situation. I know of a family friend whose sister was diagnosed w/ breast cancer, she underwent alternative medicine procedures and she lived for around 7 years. Her AMA docs only gave her a year at the most.
It is hard in the states because alternative care is kind of looked down upon, but I think it has many more opitions and is open to the patient as opposed to saying I am the doc and this is what you are going to get. I do believe that there are holistic practitioners that deal with stress both on the level of the physically ill individual as well as the person who is supporting them emotionally. You may want to look into that in your area.
As for the possible estate issues, it is sad but true, there are many a cases where a family falls apart over money. It is the ulgy side of humanity.
I send thoughts of peace for you and your wife.

Why? Why? Why???
by zeroday inwhy do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?
why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?
why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Because to have sex out side of marriage is a sin. When you are 17 you are not thinking to yourself, hmm maybe 5 years from now I will not be the same person but I will be married to this guy and heaven forbid I get divorced because that is another matter. I wonder if she will have to go before the same judge to get her divorce?
