I play the clarinet. I am equal handed but at a young age was "encouraged" to use my right hand and thus tend to favor it but when I broke my right hand & fingers, I wrote and lived my life thru the use of my left hand, so it is still there. I train deaf dogs (teaching them thru sign language and vibrating collars)

Nah, that is not bad spelling in the "Trevorgate" thread, they are speaking Spanish. But then again, I don't know Spanish so it could be all wrong.

For those wondering what the deal is w/ the Cook County tax issues and due dates ... FYI
Dear IRELA Member: FYI,we've just learned that the Illinois Senate voted 55-1 on Friday to override the Governor's amendatory veto on the 7% tax cap bill (HB 664). (The House previously voted to reject the Governor's amendatory veto on October 2nd.)
This means there will be a new tax cap law as described by John Norris at the September IRELA meeting, and second installment 2006 tax bills will now be prepared and sent out for Cook County. The due date they are shooting for is December 1st. We will be posting more information on the association web site as it becomes available.
Very truly yours,

Setting a shopping mall booth for preaching? Is that the newest trend?
by divejunkie ini saw it for the first time.
in a very pricy shopping center in an upscale area, these two witnesses couples had a booth, very similar to those for cellphones, and they were trying to attract people to it and passing out magazines and other literature.
after the shock, i got to thinking: .

They have to take it to the masses, cause people are never home or not answering their doors.
The dude that stands on the corner of Lake and State here in Chicago is there all the time. I have yet to see him talk to anyone. He just stands their like a magazine rack and holds the magazine up with one hand. Though, he always has his i-pod in his right ear. Clearly he is not actively seeking people out, but rather just taking the easy approach to "service".
I wish I could have done that when I was a pioneer. They were constantly cracking the whip on us. I would have loved to have painted my self silver and stood there with a magazine in one hand standing on a wooden box and a tin can in front of me. I could have made some extra cash on the side and help pay my bills from pioneering.

Can the WTBTS be sued for Murder?
by Gill inthe recent success of the lawrence hughes v the wtbts lawyers has opened the possibility of the wtbts actually being sued for second degree murder.. it's a possibility, a slim one but still there.. so, do you believe the wtbts is responsible for giving out misleading information about blood transfusion that has been the cause of death among countless jehovah's witnesses.. i believe that since their inception the wtbts has acted like medical charlatans and if it were possible to count the deaths that ensued they would reach to high heaven.. so what do you think?.
is there the slimmest chance that they may finally be held accountable.. the judge in the bethany hughes case said their advice equaled telling a diabetic not to take insulin or telling a sick person not to take antibiotics and these people then dying.. are the people who matter, doctors, lawyers, judges etc finally waking up to the gigantic injustice that has been going on for far too long now?.

There is always a possibility of anything when it comes to the law. But first you must define "murder" based on the various laws of the state/country. Because the burden of proof is greater in criminal cases, it might be more difficult to prove murder based on the various elements necessary by law.
It is not very common to see a doctor be charged with murder in a wrongful death action. A good example to look at is what has been in the news over the many years. The OJ case and the Robert Blake case. Both were found not guilty but were later found liable in a civil suit filed by the families. The reason being, burden of proof.
Should this happen, this would open a whole can of worms for not just JWs but for Christian Scientists, Scientologists and any other religion that has extreme rules regarding health and care/treatment rendered. It would be interesting to see what happens and if this opens another world of plaintiff cases in the US.

There is a lot of comparing of apples and oranges here. Let's stick to the facts as presented in the federal indictment (there is a state case pending as well but they are waiting on the federal case to complete b/4 proceeding w/ state charges). He had what he referred to as a kennel. That kennel was to be operated based on the same basic standards that other kennels were allowed to operate w/i the state. He violated the laws that are put in place as it relates to keeping, maintaining and breding dogs. Whether he allowed one of his friends to run the business or not, he had a duty as the owner and operator of the business to understand what his business was doing. Clearly based on the statement of many witnesses, he was present and took part in watching dogs fight and if the dogs underperformed he destroyed them. So from a legal stand point, he was WRONG.
I would just like to point out that dogs have been domesticated for humans. They are a particular type of animal. It does not matter whether it is a pitbull or a doberman or german shephard. Although we can train dogs to do certain things (entertain us w/ tricks, serve and protect thru the police, assist people with handicaps, etc), we are still in charge as we have domesticated them. So we are the guardians of these animals. It is our responsibility to take the job seriously and not see them as disposable. That is just abusive. No amount of excuses can be made for a person who abuses an animal in any way. You can say they are from the south, you can say that they were abused by their parents as a kid, you can say that they were high on something. At the end of the day, it is still the same, unacceptable and illegal by US law and unacceptable by moral code. Clearly he knew what he was doing was wrong because 1) he hid his actions and 2) he lied about them when he was arrested. If he REALLY thought was he was doing was so very innocent he would have explained as such. Instead, he denied and denied until backed in a corner and then used an excuse to explain away his deeds.
As for Whoopie, come on the fact that she signed on to do that show indicates that she does not have all her wits about her. Can you imagine sitting next to that bible thumping blonde ditz all morning long? To me that IS slow torture.

Who would enforce this law, the fat fatty who runs the joint! I don't think so. Yes, I agree that obesity and gluttony don't run hand-in-hand. But I would suspect that many of the JWs who suffer w/ this condition are binge eaters because of depression or some other psychological condition. My mother is extremely obese, but she had polio as a child and her mobility is limited. That being said, I use to get frustrated with her on a regular basis (when she was talking to me) because her house was stocked w/ crap. But if you are not allowed to do ANYTHING and food is something you MUST do to survive, you will have those that will overindulge in unhealthy things. When I use to be in over 10 years ago, more than half the elder body and MS were morbidly obese and when you mentioned that you had gone to the gym, they acted like you have said you went to have sex w/ a hooker. So what do you expect!
