  Big announcement after all DC have ended?

  i was told by a reliable source that the organization will be making a "big announcement" at the end of the summer when all the dcs have ended.

  has anyone else heard this?

  maybe this is the "new light" they have alluded to in recent wt study articles?

  a destructive cult is defined as "a group which violates the rights of its members and damages them through the abusive techniques of unethical mind control.

  Thank you jwfacts, I tend to see the situation similarly. While reading Hassans book "Combating Cult Mind Control" I see time and again extreme examples of destructive cult behavior. JW's do not seem to be fit Hassan’s definition of a destructive cult completely.

  He makes the point that one can see a group’s true color by examining the lifestyle of its leaders. Does leadership enjoy lavish surroundings while members toil away with the bare minimum? If JW's can be defined as a destructive cult, is this the end objective of its leaders? Money? For example, Moonie leadership was after political power and money; many other destructive cults had similar aims. What is the JW cult leadership objective, if it exists?

  good analysis, 16 hours a week is quite a time investment. Who honestly has the time to do this while working 40 hours a week?

  I'm interested in knowing your thoughts on this matter. Do you think the WTBTS is a destructive cult? A destructive cult is defined as "a group which violates the rights of its members and damages them through the abusive techniques of unethical mind control."

  Mind control would involve a person's behavior, thoughts, emotions, and flow of information.

  I can see some of these in the JW religion, but they are not as overt when compared to a group like the Moonies.

  Since the Socceroos were robbed of a win against Italy I guess this makes Australia the winner. Yeeeeh

  sheesh, robbed!?!? The Australian defender shouldn't have went down like that in the box.

  Disgusting comment regarding the baptism at the DC

  at the service meeting the other day the "friends" were given an opportunity to discuss the district convention (portland, or, june 30-july 2).

  ) people baptized at that convention.

  a bigger number than i remember for at least a decade.

  "how many young people are choosing to dedicate their lives to Jehovah..." Yeah, right. "Choosing." As if they had much choice in the matter. I remember the comments about how old I was getting to be, and "oh, my goodness, still not baptized?" the dirty looks, the hints, the talks about how we wouldn't be under the parents' umbrella of protection if Armageddon came right now, better hurry and get in the protection program, lol.

  I was pretty much told, I had better get signed up for the questions and baptized at the next circus ass-embly. Reminded I was old enough to take my stand for Jehoopla, and if I wasn't for him, I was against him. Comments and dark looks about being old enough to move out... yes, free choice here!

  Exactly. I was baptised at the age of 17, rather old for my congregation as most were baptised from 13 to 15. I remember feeling guilty that I couldn't qualify to run microphones because I wasn't baptised! I also wanted to eventually date and get married, so I decided to get baptised. I really tried hard for a few years...fell into a slum...got married...tried really hard again and made MS. Now I'm fading.

  I remember talking to one CO about this, it bothered him that ones as young as 10 were getting baptised. Yet he chalked this up to kids maturing faster nowadays.

  In case anyone missed me, I was at Thom's for a few weeks.
