  i had not known about this story until today, but was shocked that any of it unfolded.

  i can't imagine how many of us would have the same fate when we were teens.

  i don't know the details of the night he "broke the law" but what ashame to live with this the rest of his life, and whats worse he will be telling teens how wrong he was.. purps.

  I've been gone for about a year now. Family and friends know I'm not a JW anymore. Yet I have never been disfellowshiped. I get a call from an elder a few days ago wanting to talk about 'my current situation', presumably to officially axe me from the church. A few months ago I wouldn't have cared, but I've recently been able to reopen dialoge with my JW family. Getting officially df'ed might impede this.
  
  In other news, I'm doing great! My new hometown is fabulous and I'm adjusting to life outside the dubs better every day. JWD, and Ray Franz, had a lot to do with it.

  i mean, there is so much bullshit talk on this site, and every time there comes up an opportunity to take some action, you all just wus out.

  what will it take for you all to get a spine and do something?

  write a letter or email to this paper and let them know how you feel about their article.

  I was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses from birth to the age of 28. I was baptized at the age of 17. Many of my peers were baptized as early as the age of 9.

  I gradually lost my faith in the Witness religion and decided to leave it. Since I was a baptized Witness, this caused me to become disfellowshiped.

  This 'loving' arrangment resulted in losing any meaningful contact with lifelong friends and family members. If I had not gotten baptized at the age of 17, or 9 in the case of some of my peers, I would not have been disfellowshiped. How can a 9 year old make such an important decision?

  what is the deal with this?

  it seems i hear more and more about some jw woman who is a massage therapist.

  i can't think of a more unseemly occupation for a jw woman that is legal.

  A legit massage therapist does not provide 'happy endings'. In many states it also requires a lot of school time to become licensed.

  Now...a place called "Bangkok Spa", like the one I saw in New Orleans last week is a different matter.
