"The government can do little to nothing to reduce the price of oil, because the price of oil is determined by a middle-eastern terrorist organization by the name of OPEC."
Seriously?
"But the government can reduce the price of gasoline. They can eliminate federal gasoline taxes. That would take about 50 cents off of each gallon."
WTF? You are worried about two quarters per gallon when the price could rise to 5, 8, 10 per gallon? Instead of focusing on such a short term solution why not examine the price of gas in its larger context? China, India, and the rest of the developing world are increasingly looking for oil to drive their economy. Oil production has probably peaked and will started declining.
Subsidizing our addiction to oil is INSANE. Instead, the high price of gasoline will spur innovation. Suddenly, that hybrid car doesn't look so bad...and hey, why can they make the thing run on solar power? We need high gas prices to sober up from our addiction to oil.

$10 gas
by JimmyPage inmy father-in-law heard from someone who has connections with the higher-ups that the society thinks gas will be $10 a gallon in january.
i'm "bookmarking" that statement on my calendar.
if january comes around and gas isn't $10 i'm going to remind him of "what the society said".

Why I will NEVER be an elder again
by stillajwexelder inso the po confirmed what many on this board already know.
at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.
any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

2012: The Year The Internet Ends
by What-A-Coincidence inhttp://ipower.ning.com/netneutrality.
06/01/2008 - every significant internet provider around the globe is currently in talks with access and content providers to transform the internet into a television-like medium: no more freedom, you pay for a small commercial package of sites you can visit and you'll have to pay for seperate subscriptions for every site that's not in the package.
what can we do?internet providers have realized that the only way to not lose massive amounts of customers over this is to make sure there are no alternatives, that's why all major internet providers are currently making agreements and planning to switch simultaneously somewhere in the year 2012. this is currently all going on under very strict nda's (non-disclosure agreements) because the last thing they want is the masses speaking out against it.

Where do atheists' morals come from?
by dorayakii inmany theists believe that atheists have no morality at all.
they argue that because atheists dont believe in the laws, limitations and boundaries that god has set up for us, there's nothing stopping them from becoming violent, lying thieving sociopaths.
there have been many stories of people who have "found god" and changed their life, giving up drugs, repenting for past crimes.

What kind of society do I want to live in?
To a large extent, this is how my morals are defined. -
