Hey Brother Apostate:
I see narcissists
watching the democratic debates i was struck how every candidate, save dennis kucinich, pledged to prevent iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
iran is a sovereign state, diplomacy which ends in 'you can't have this, but we can' will not work.
what would happen if another country told us we couldn't have nukes?

BrentR, thanks for the links to the NPT. If Iran has signed the treaty and still persists in developing a nuclear weapon, *the UN* should take action. However, it might be hard to convince Iran to follow international law when they perceive the USA to have broken international law themselves.
Also, the veracity of Iran blocking IAEA inspectors is somewhat suspect. I'm not convinced that they are actively blocking inspections.

BrentR, in general. I don't think it matters which countries are involved.
Thanks for your research and contributions in the thread.

Good discussion here. However, let's not lose sight of the topic.
Does one nation have the right to dictate another nations domestic policy?

Yes, but does the USA have the authority to tell another nation what they can and cannot do?
That is not diplomacy.
i'm sure this has been asked a million times before but since leaving the witnesses what religion (or lack thereof) have you chosen for yourself?
and what is it about that religion that attracted you?
since leaving the witnesses i think i no longer believe in god, not out of anger, actually i think i like the idea of him more since i don't believe in him anymore.
None.

Thoughts?
well, i've known the truth about the witnesses for over two years.
and i've been pretending to be one ever since.
i'm sure most of us did that for a period of time, some longer than others.. i think it has changed my personality, especially since i've been a teenager the whole time.. .
On another note, life is great 18 months out of the cult! I dealt with most of my sh*t immediately after leaving, it still rears its ugly head every so often, but will be gone soon.
Mindfulness helped me. Check out Stephen Batchelor, he writes for a western agnostic buddhists.

u.s. district judge robert gettleman said he has "some serious questions" about the statute that requires schools to pause at the start of classes each day.. .
"let there be no mistake about that," said the judge, expressing concern with the act's title and possible abuses.. in a lawsuit filed last week, atheist activist rob sherman sought a temporary restraining order to block the moment of silence in township high school district 214 and specifically at buffalo grove high school.
Purps, there is no religious motivation in that instance. Also, it would not be mandated.
