Hi Ozzie
Only one storm? We had 2 last night in the Blue Mountains - seems to track through the Kingdom Halls....
and yes, the cleanup is getting monotonous

been off-air mopping up since last night.
the mother of all storms hit us and quite suddenly - one minute it was hot (as usual lately), the next all went dark and the most violent of thunderstorms hit us.
in a time of drought this was some reversal!

sounds like an epidermal lesion, doesn't it?
lol.
anyway, i've had a cpap for years.
Re psychotic personalities, before I got the CPAP my wife insisted that my sleep apnea (and my 140dB snoring) drove her crazy.
Seriously though I don't know whether one is more prone to a psychotic personality as a consequence of sleep apnea - the effects of REM sleep deprivation may accentuate certain personality traits or characteristics, but these seem to be reversible with the use of the machine.

Don't have too many problems with the hose pulling out, but I nearly drowned from condensation at first as I live in a "cooler climate". Nearly threw the @#$% thing through the window.
Solved that with an electrically heated tube though (Resmed don't sell them) & has been perfect since. I have had the nose rebore done (deviated septum after broken nose years ago)
At least I don't go to sleep at 2 pm now!! There was an infamous case here of a judge with sleep apnea who spent the afternoons asleep in court - now retired (funny about that!)
Regards,

so friday my brother and i found a nursing home for my mom to stay at.
it was a very hard thing to do.
he had me go hunting.
Sparkie,
Frannie and the other have given you some real good advice. The effect of any change (accomodation, health, etc etc etc) is incredible on people with dementia - and it often seems to cause a permanent downward change in their condition. The picture that you have painted says that you really hurt, but please don't react by turning around and taking her out - it really won't help the situation. My wife has been through similar confronting issues with her mother and has had been inflicted with the kind of emotional barrage that you have been through (she has issues with her mother and has not forgiven her). The behaviour that you describe may settle down but medication is most important, both from an adverse reaction and an efficacy point of view.
Perhaps now is the time for you to be able to focus on other important things in your life. Your mother is in care - take advice from those who can give good advice (professionally), and try to do what's best for her.
I really feel for you in what you are going through........but your inner strength really does shine through!!

this post is in honor of ozziepost, one of our long-standing australian posters.
i am probably posting this in the perfectly wrong time of day, so if one of our australian friends could bump this thread when you are all waking up, i'd appreciate it.. ozziepost is well known for his love offfair with shiraz, an australian wine.. you may not know this about me, but i am a neophyte drinker.
i like to be in charge (is anyone surprised), and acohol unacceptably takes away my sense of self-control.
Part btt, part wine.
Have been into (what I regard as) good wine for longer than I care to think.....There are quire a few sweet reds being produced here by some reputable wineries - I like Brown Bros Dolcetto-Syrah - served cold (yum!!)

i love this quote and often find myself using it on the kids and my dog.
it is from cats and dogs and james earl jones doing the voice over.
"not for you young puppy, for you the war is over".
From 2001: ASpace Odyssey (naturally) by HAL (even more understandably) on Dave Bowman's return to the ship, after HAL has killed the rest of the crew.
HAL: I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.......

mine is the japanese kitsune.
the fox spirits humbler of haughty samurai and foiler of crooked bussiness men.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/kitsune.
.
Like others, McCaffrey's dragons hold fascination.
But.......
The Character "Saya" in the anime Blood: The Last Vampire is particularly striking.
A somewhat different character to your creatures, 5go.

how fast a crisis brings everything into perfectly clear focus?.
i often wonder where do the strong go when they need to cry?
well truly...today...i can see the separation of people in my life.
Sparkplug,
It is like looking after a kid, but in reverse. They become progressively less of who / what you knew them as until they are gone.
I don't know how your health system works, but if is anything like ours, please make sure that the psych evaluation gets done FAST. Here, the clock doesn't start on a bed placement until you get past that hurdle - and please don't let anyone try to send you on a guilt trip for trying to do the best for your family. The worst part of this is the effect that the 36 hour day (not a mistype) needed to care for someone like this has on you as the carer - especially when you think that you are coping. Please listen to those around you: sometimes a reality check from someone not too close is in order.
Yes, there are things that you laugh at - and then feel bad about. Don't worry, others have been there as well, and it's not any failing on your part. I can still remember my dad (with dementia) climbing a tree to trim it and not being able to get down again. I see my wife's mother being a mirror of her mischievious 4 yo granddaugher in her behaviour. It's all part of the journey.
I have been thinking of you and the frustrations / concerns / dissappointments that you are having and really hope that there is a positive turn around for you real soon.
